Looked like an illegal hit to me. The head was the principal point of contact and the head was targeted (Green pretty much only got Connolly's head). Connolly was in a vulnerable position but that's because the other Capitals defenseman had already engaged him and Green had plenty of time to see what position Connolly was in.
That was definitely suspension-worthy, expecting 1-2 games. Green decided to hit, even though he saw Connolly was in no position to take a hit like that. Head was the PPOC and in fact, the only point of contact.
He cut off Connolly and Connolly is a idiot with his head down and runs into a Green.
how big of a biased fan are you?
he was being checked by another player into the boards and his head was vulnerable and he had no way of moving and green put his elbow up to his head. Explain why he needed to come in with his elbow like that?
Easily dirty. I imagine he's going to get a few games, but I have long since stopped guessing what is suspension-worthy and what isn't. Whether it gets a suspension or not, it was dirty as **** MOD

Reason: wishing injury not allowed
Happened right in front of my section. Connolly was definitely vulnerable and looked like green got his elbow up. Dirty stupid play but I think it was careless, don't think green is a dirty player. 2-3 game suspension imo.
not only was he in a vulnerable postion and couldnt even move but green had all day to either pull up or keep his elbow down, its not like it was a bang bang play. If green isnt suspended itll be sad
In before if he gets a suspension for that then the league is clearly biased for not suspending Kronwall.
But honestly, I have yet to see the hit so can't make a judgement, how about people wait until a youtube is up and they can get another look at it?
It was very different from the Kronwall hit. Voracek put himself in a vulnerable position immediately prior to the hit and Kronwall made full body contact. Here, Connolly was in a vulnerable position because he was engaged with another player and Green had time to see that. In addition, Green didn't make full body contact and might have also hit Connolly in the head with his elbow.
As for the Youtube, I assume people who haven't see the hit can wait before commenting until a video is available.

As I said, I have yet to see it and it was meant as a joke, I should have put in there to signify that (will edit it in).
I am awaiting the youtube though. Do not want to start this kronwall stuff again though, my bad :S
My disability, all the Lightning guys showed was glass level hit from behind, so what elbow could you of seen from that angle?
The Caps feed on NHL Network finally showed a clear replay of the hit - that was a dangerous and irresponsible play by Green. Hopefully, Brett will be okay without any lingering effects.
