I've never heard of this "clear day roster" thing. How is it that AHL teams can add junior players for playoff runs, but Dylan Olsen, Jimmy Hayes and Andrew Shaw can't be returned to Rockford from Chicago?
Well.. got through the prospect talk. Good insight. Talked about lots of guys including McNeill, Saad, K/J.Hayes, Shaw, Pirri, Danault, Clendening, Paliotta and Johns.
Some thoughts:
It is very doubtful that Rockford will make the playoffs, hence the declared clear day roster doesn't have much meaning.
Good comments on Shaw. It seems obvious that he can't withstand the rigors of the NHL as it stands today.
Interesting that Olsen is thought to be an intelligent hockey player and very dedicated to being a shutdown dman who can and knows when to cover for his partner. Sounds like a future leader to me.
Some good comments about finishing checks and what Paradis needs to work on, to do it intelligently .... ie. not necessarily throwing the crunching check but rather delaying an opps player for that 1 or 2 seconds that can make a big difference. (something we seldom get from the current Hawk team, I might add).
McNeil vs Saad as a prospect: Saad comparison to Larmer was interesting but some doubts on him from both guys. Needs to use his body better. McNeil might be more ready, and though not dynamic, seems to be a more consistent scorer.
Johns: 6' 4" 221 lbs and getting bigger ... and a few more big bodies in College hockey that could make an impact one day.
Kevin Hayes compared to Thornton, though numbers not there yet.
Mattson seems to be best goaltending prospect but again numbers could be better.

Reason: Kevin Hayes, not Jimmy

It was Kevin who was compared to Joe Thornton, "a poor man's Joe Thornton".
