Honestly, the coaches were better off putting out Mitchell instead of Wingels. You don't put a rookie out in that pressure situation as the anchor when he hasn't even made an attempt yet.
The only worse choice they could have made would be Murray or White.
The players did every thing they could. Every single player played their hearts out. I cannot point to a single guy that didn't do what he had to do-- yes, that count's Niemi.
Getting Boyle off of that powerplay in overtime would be a start. He was trying to do too much on his own, and slowed down the play way too much. Burns is also a lot more lethal 4 on3 .
Is that what we say about EVERY GOALIE that faces the sharks?
Every game we play is right now about:
- The refs sucking
- Bad bounces and luck
- The other goalie stealing it.
I liked how we played today and we still lost. I feel for the players.
Guess we are still in the playoff hunt for now but as positive as I have been I see the Kings/Avs/Yotes taking over the last two positions and Dallas winning the division. Call it bad hockey mojo, the inability to finish, whatever. The fact is that the team is just not winning right now.

Clearly the hockey gods want us to fall in the standings, stick with the roster (ie. no retarded shake up trades), waive handzus, kick white as far away from San Jose as possible, draft Alex Galchenyuk and win the cup next season.
Also please break up Murray/Burns and Vlasic/Boyle.
Vlasic's offense is gone because Boyle is too selfish. Murray gets tons of looks but he doesn't have the legs or vision to move or pass the puck. Instead he takes a shot into the shins that only leads to a whistle or breakout.

And frankly, to everyone here who is here just to **** on the Sharks, I hope you're happy. Maybe it's a defense mechanism, maybe you're just angry people, but I don't see how it helps anythign.
On the positive side, that penalty box babe was a winner. Can't Wilson's dang admin staff drop their Moral Majority-ing and get some Babes on our screens? The sausage fest is gettin real old.

Nice to hear that Hedican is bashing the shootout decisions cause damn. Always great to stare at the "Good Night!" sign and listen to the CI gingle for 5 minutes wondering what the hell Todd was thinking. Oh well, House Hunters International is on, so at least I'll win tonight!
To be fair, I'm only blaming Mclellan for the shootout picking. Whichever coach is responsible for the powerplay, and the players on the ice in the last minute. Otherwise, this team played their hearts out and deserved to win.
Wingels and Moore in the shootout over Boyle and Marleau is an absolutely ridiculous decision. I don't care how bad Marleau has been in the shootout, you don't put a rookie in a clutch situation when he's done nothing anywhere close to what he was asking Wingels to do.

How exactly did he blow it in regulation? The only goal he maybe should have had was the first one, and even that was a partial breakaway.

Benn's goal was a five hole goal..Keep your stick down and its an easy save. the tying goal, was a straight shot from the point...sure there was traffic, but no tip, Niemi just didnt hang on. Look at the saves other teams goalies are making against the sharks to keep their team in the game. When is the last time Niemi has had a game like Lethonen tonight? That's what i thought.
