Really? I don't remember, but I do know that Burns has been great defensively lately and would look much better with Vlasic against top opposition.

Sharks in Washington really was the last one.

Even with my criticism towards the coaching decisions in this game, I feel the team is coming out of it. Even with the goals given up, I thought Niemi has gotten a little bit better over the last bit since coming off the roadie. More players are picking up their play. It's going to get better, imo.

Agreed but how many more gut wrenching losses can they survive? Granted if any team would be used to those, it would be the Sharks.

Niemi is solid. White is adequate+hitting. Top 6 looks like they know how to score, defense is just failing I think as a team.

If they hit a modest winning streak against divisional foes, they will be fine. They're getting out of it.

Getting hot near the end of the season could be a great thing, I just hope it happens soon.

There's not one facet that is consistently letting them down. Every few games its something new. The last few games before tonight it was scoring, then before that it was Niemi. Couple weeks ago the PP was on fire now its awful. PK was awful to start the season, now its fairly solid.

They haven't been able to put it all together for any stretch this season.

Or it could burn them out before the post season, sort of like Chicago last year (but I guess even they took it to game 7 OT).

Sharks are running out of time. They really must pick it up now. I really want to know why T.J. is not on the ice. I was really excited to see him play!

No doubt about that. Holds true across all sports. In baseball, wild card teams always seem to have an advantage because they are playing meaningful games down to the last weekend typically. Packers last year had a torrid stretch to get into the playoffs and then win the Superbowl.

Getting hot at the right time is always key.

I think this was the best all around game from Burns I've seen from him in teal.

I know. So frustrating. Niemi can't save a game if his life depended on it right now. It's like we are peppering the opposition goalie and, decent success but, they sem to all look like all stars against us wherein, our goaltending can't make those extra game savers.

I assume you mean "as many game savers". If you watched the game that is

Now wait just one damn minute. Les said we had a 97 percent chance of making the playoffs, heck he basically guaranteed it, and I put down everything I had, the kids college funds, my 401-k, the wife's diamond and even my coffee can hookers and blow fund, all on the Sharks to make the post season. Are you saying I should be worried?!!

I gotta say, as pissed as I am and as much as I want to pile on the players, seeing their faces walking down the hall coming off the ice after the game, they just looked gutted to a man. Really felt sorry for them.

Our suckage is slowly going away, but we have to push a little harder to get the full suckage out. If we lose every game in OT we might not make the playoffs. Let's win some games during regulation or OT or the SO.

I don't blame the players. The effort has been there for the last few games. Mistakes will happen and you can't blame them for that. I don't think there are any passengers at this point (maybe Handzus last game, but other than that I think he's been doing okay. The board is just hard on him because he's slow and 2.5 million).

I think the system and the coaching is broken. It's not working and teams have us figured out. TMac isn't a bad coach, but I think he's not the right coach. He's more suited for teaching a team like Phoenix, where he just tells players to work hard and stick to a very stingy system. It's not so much suited for team stock with a ton of talent.

And the assistant coaches are just bad. Bad, bad, bad.

There's no answer for what happened tonight, what has been happening over the last 20 games. Even plain old bad luck would have them close to .500, what we are seeing is downright malicious luck. The only term for what has been happening is they have been playing cursed. Whether you believe in curses or not, this isn't just not catching bounces, this is a sustained period of nearly sentient devastating luck.

There is absolutely no reason to jump on the team for that. Shame on anyone who does it.
