I hope you folks are right about Dougie and the Fronts taking Ho-Sang with 2nd pick.
I think Mc David will be granted exceptional status and if so he is a sure fire No.1. Based on what I have seen and what other gm's and scouts are telling me there is no reason he shouldn't get it.
By all accounts Fabbri will go to the Soo so that sets up like this: 1. McDavid - Erie 2. Ho-Sang - Kingston 3. Fabbri - Soo. Leaving me crossing my fingers that .............. :
Being a storm fan I hope Roland Mckeown slips out of the top 3 and we can get our hands on this kid. (Storm should be picking anywhere from 4-6)
This kid is a stud! He is way above any other d-man in the draft and has potential to be a dynamic two way d-man. he dominates in both ends of the rink and has the wheels as well, complete package. Reminds me a little bit of Doughty, but he is different. Better defensively at his age and probably not at the same level offensively, but still above average. (not that I like making comparisons He could jump into Guelph's lineup today and be more effective than some of their present roster players. (Gaskin, and he's an OA!)
Don't get me wrong, HoSang is going to be a beauty as well, just think there is enough depth at fwd later in the draft that you have to take mcKeown.
This draft is soooo deep, good time to have some early picks!
1 – Erie: Connor McDavid – How can you not go with him?
2 – Kngston: Roland Mckeown – Lack of defense in Kingston, Ho-Sang’s attitude may hurt him.
3 – Soo: Fabbri – Fast, skilled, leadership qualities, and family ties with the Soo
4 – Peterborough: Dal Colle – Lack of big centremen with the Petes, although I could see McCann go here as well
5 – Windsor: Ho-Sang - He’s waited long enough
6 – Guelph: McCann - Garlent and McCann may be lead the young talent in Guelph alongside Kosmachuk and Finn
7 – Mississauga: Middleton – Team needs defence
8 – Oshawa: Cornel – Another team that needs defence, should be able to wait until later for that though
9 – Kingston: Herbst – With Bobkov gone, they don’t have much in the system for goaltending.
10 – Belleville: Bennett – Could be a stretch to pick him in the top 10, but good skating winger on that Olympic size ice at Yardmen
11 – Saginaw: Hargrave – Saginaw will be losing their big bodied second line next year and will be left with the majority of small forwards.
12 – Owen Sound: Addison – Feel like this kid is going to have one of those breakthrough OHL cups and wouldn’t he be nice to add in the mix of young forwards in Owen Sound
13 – Sarnia: Hiddink – another forward to go to Sarnia with high end numbers, somewhat local kid too
14 – Sudbury: Watson – player to add to this hard working, skilled team
15 – Brampton: Bourne – Big bodied player could work well with Stan Butler’s type of hockey
16 – Barrie: Magyar – Barrie could pull him away from Ohio State, like what they did with Schiefele and Cornell. Barrie could use the bigger body as well.
17 – Kitchener: Abou-assaly – Kitchener seems to like their players from the Ottawa area, they will also be ing losing overaged forwards
18 – Ottawa: Petti –Ottawa will be losing forwards as well next year, not the greatest feet ever, but hey look at Toffoli 19 – Niagara: Schmalz - Big D-man with good numbers. Dougie Hamilton prodigy perhaps? Also good to have a big body in that tiny barn of a rink.
20 – Plymouth: Larkin – Detroit player. Wouldn’t be the first committed kid to go to Plymouth
21 – Niagara: Sanvido – Teach this kid to hit and fight and he is an absolute monster and scary to player to play against on the back end in that rink
22 – London: Cramarossa – Could be a little high to pick him here, but you never know. Good hard working player that I think will turn out better than his brother
Just another mock draft for you guys to argue about. Have fun.
Are you talking about Matt Schmalz #17 - South Tier Admirals? That's what it appears to me. I was at the OMHA finals tourney today and have seen him play over a bunch this year and he always plays forward, specifically center. He is a big kid (6'4") and I have seen him play spot d here and there but think he will be drafted as a fwd. Not sure what Niagara needs but if they are looking for a stud d-man (which dougie hamilton is) this might not be the man! He is a big body, that skates very well for his size and can dominate physically, but I personally would project him as more of a power forward.

Nope. Nick Schmaltz, American kid, brother of Jordan Schmaltz - a Windsor Spitfire pick. Jordan went the NCAA route - that would be a warning flag to me.

Nick is a forward thou. Judging my viewings I'd be surprised if the Habs ment anyone other then Matt.

If ssm doesn't make the playoffs and the storm do you will have to hope he lasts until atleast 5th as 2 east and 2 west always pick in the top 4 based on the two teams in each conference that don't make playoffs.

My mistake then. I have been under the impression that he is a defenseman. Regardless, he is a good player that is a big body in that tiny rink. Could fit perhaps. I would still love to see Sanvido get toughened up and go there.

I don't think the Fronts will take Herbst at #9, They have too many holes to fill at other positions . I would like to see them get some skilled forwards. Do you think Gilmour could talk Ryan Macinnis or Blake Clarke into coming to Kingston? With Kingston's latest losing streak I hope it doesn't hurt all the positives they have done with the players, agents and reps. this year.
As a petes fan I'd hope Dave Reid would take Ho-Sang but it would never happen... I'd be devistated if kingston took Fabbri at 2.
There would be nothing to be devasted at. Fabbri has a ton of heart and skill. I personally think Fabbri will do better in the OHL, than Hosang. I think Hosang shuts down after a few big hits on him. I think theres a good chance its Mckweon at #2. I wouldnt be surprised if it was Hosang though. Hosang was a tough read this year. When Hosang is focused and moving the puck, to me only Mcdavid is better.

I couldnt agree more with u . I was going to post this as well. Id be very surprised if Herbst was taken @ #9. Even top 15. He has not had a good playoff. His stock dropped a bit from my view. Kingston is going to get 2 amazing pieces with #2 and #9.
If Kingston got one of Mckweon, Hosang, Fabbri at # 2. AT #9 they might be able to get S.Watson. I could see them getting 1 dman and 1 forward with these picks.
I think S.watson was better than Sam Bennett when i saw them end of December several times. I will be watching closely to see where Watson is now with his game at the OHL cup. S.Watson impressed me as much or more than McCann. McCann has more grit. S.Watson is the best sniper i think in this Draft. 74 goals this year. Im pretty sure thats tops across the province.

More on Connor Mcdavid. Im not the only one who thinks his game resembles Crosby.
“I can’t think of a player other than Sidney who was better at that age,” the executive said. “He played in the all-Ontario peewee finals a few years ago and he was playing up (a year) and he had triple the number of points of anyone else.”

I'd agree with the bolded. Watson is more dynamic offensively, IMO, and I'm a big fan of Bennett. I don't think Watson will be better than McCann, but I wouldn't be surprised if he went in the top 10, ahead of Bourne and Hargrave.

I've wondered that too. Kingston could take both players in the top 10 so they could stay together. I know they both play on the same team in St. Louis (not sure how close the 2 are though).

He'd have to conince them to report. Neither are sure things to report to the OHL at this time. You also probably could take Clarke in the second round, like what the Sting did with DeAngelo last year. Better maximization of your assets.
MacIinnis plays on the U16 team. Clarke plays on the U18 team.

Looks like Oakvilke is out. Hamilton is playing really, really well.
Eccles and Murphy are players to watch. Really well thought of.
Tough tournament for Oakville! broke out with 3 goals in first 5 minutes against whitby in the 1st game, ended up loosing in finals seconds. All downhill from there!
Oakville really missed Eric Luzar on the back-end. (shoulder seperation) should be back for OHL cup if invited.
The one that stood out for me was Stefan Leblanc, defensemen for Oakville. Double shifted the whole tournament! Kid has tremendous offensive up-side, great potential moving forward.
I have heard that alot of the top 10 prospects haven't commenced their meetings with teams.
This year is different than others as teams only have 3 wks to arrange meetings with players as the draft is 1 month earlier. The OHL cup will start before we have the final positions of OHL teams?
The agents, players and tricksters only have 3 weeks to implant their demands.
If Windsor finishes with5th pick then most other picks should be considered logical.
If Windsor finishes with5th pick then most other picks should be considered logical.
What do you mean by this? Is there a big difference between the Spits finishing between 4th and 5th? Would SSM finishing 4th block any attempt for a player to try and pick Windsor as their destination?
