This regular season is a write-off statistic wise for Alexander Ovechkin. It's all about the playoffs this year for him and the whole Capitals. They've been facing adversity all year and shown flashes of the team they used to be -- in both good and bad ways. Let's see how far they make it in the playoffs before we begin proclaiming "he's back" or "they suck".
If they even make the playoffs, lol.

It was a big finish for the caps and a big 2 points, but ive seen similar moments that look like turning points at the time, and theyve followed it up with terrible games afterward. So who knows?

I am along the same lines with you. But this i canīt agree on.

Over a PPG is average? I mean, he is playing somewhat average now, but his last season was 85 points. That is not average, it is borderline elite.

In his pants of course.

Eh, Ov looked a bit like he was channeling Cheechoo on that play.

Can he possibly keep up this blistering 60 point pace? He's gotta be due for a cold streak.

Actually he's not..

I may have finished up playing college soccer 2 years ago but I surely don't have a gut like that.. that's pathetic..

EDIT: My point is that the dude is out of shape.. and until he gets back into great shape, he will continue to be a shell of the Ovi we saw take this league by storm...

This is interesting, cause i have noticed the same thing. I mean, i have watched about 15-25 games of Ovechkin since he came to the NHL. I was amazed how much raw talent and power he had. It almost seems like he has lost his talent level. Which, i realize, is impossible. But yet still, he looks like a mere mortal on the ice and two years ago he was "the man" among boys.

Haha, I knew this thread would be made when that game ended, hyping what was yet another awful performance from Ovi until then.

HF at its best.

This is the Ovechkin i remember. Are you saying that this offensive powerhouse is back?! Man, Capitals just became the contender for the cup.

Edit: Man was that number 9 a nice one. My good i miss the old OV. Probably the most entertaining player in the League since Bure.

Makes me sad. He used to have sick goals almost every week, now it's like one per season.

If people are desperate enough to make a thread every time Ovie scores a goal or has a multiple point game you know he's not back.

4G
2A
6P

in his last 10.

He needs to have a 45+G 100+P season to be back.

But seriously, where was the rocket.
