He's still a very good goaltender unless someone can prove he's the product of some system, which I highly doubt since Washington isn't even good this year.

I'd still take him over a lot of goalies in the league. His #'s are consistent every year, including this year.
He has stolen more than a handful of games for us.
He's great, but has had some bad games and is playing behind a pretty bad team...

Fun fact - Vokoun's save percentage before the new year was .914. His save percentage in 2012 is .921, which would place him 12th in the league, just ahead of Kiprusoff and Backstrom. He's not regressing.

If he comes to Chicago for another 1 year 1 mil contract I'd love to have him on our team.

No chance. He's been horrible overall (minus one decent stretch) and an average teammate at best.

Let's in a softy a game usually.

if nabokov fleas after this season, you bet your *** garth is going to go after vokoun, hard. we need a solid goaltender to hold the place and challenge nilsson and poulin for an nhl spot. also you have to take into account snows goalie fetish. im not saying he signs on long island (hell nobody does) but garth will definitely call him, probably give him an insulting offer, then tell the press and the fans that he was this close to signing him and did all he could.

He's always been like that.

He's the same guy this year that he's been in the past.

Although I'm pretty sure you're definitely underrating him; he's definitely had more than "one decent stretch."

As a matter of fact, Vokoun's only bad month statistically was in November. Which is also right in line with his career because he's always been a slow starter.

Considering all the teams with goaltending problems, I think he'll get some interest for a 1-2 year $4-5M per contract from teams with cap space who don't have a goalie ready yet (Tampa and Chicago stand out in that regard, possibly Columbus too if Vokoun is willing go to a non-playoff team). Toronto is probably too tight to the cap to afford him, but maybe could get an affordable cap hit with an extra year tacked on to run Vokoun and Reimer as a 1A/1B tandem.

no the oilers will over pay for him and bury bulin in the minors or trade him for a negative value player that eats up cap space for the next year or so and we will sign voks for 3 years
