Desbiens is on the Flames fourth line...? Did not know he was in the NHL He was always decent enough with the Moose, but certainly did not scream NHLer to me.
And Kolanos on the 3rd line? I know he is being rewarded ala Jaffray by CGY but he is plain not very good.
Anyways, I think the Jets are going to come out firing in this one after the lackluster effort tonight (last night whatever). They need to get these two points. I'd send a message to the boys, Mason starts, Miettinen/Jones are out, Fehr/Flood are in. Mix up the lines. Efforts like that will NOT be accepted down the stretch.
Great GDT KW, time to paint Calgary JET BLUE. I loved the Jet Fans at last nights game and I suspect it will be the same (or louder) tonight. Cinderella...it's time to go to the Ball!
Was kind of bummed about the final score for a few minutes last night. Then I thought about what the majority of us were doing last year on this date, waiting for news about a possible collapse of the Coyotes negotiations or hoping that another team would fall into our laps. Now here we sit in a playoff race, while conversely other good folks lost their team recently, and the fans in Phoenix are going through a third year of limbo. We are pretty much blessed to be concerned about our position in the standings, at least from my perspective. Anything that follows from here on out is basically a bonus. GO JETS GO!!!!
I'd probably agree. They got out shot pretty good. They were good in spurts, but not enough consistency. Would like to see more passion I suppose. Kane was awful AFAIC. Burmistrov through like 3-4 good hits that I saw, but not alot else. Pavelec was good, but in all honesty, he needs to save that 3rd one. It is from almost the blueline with no screen. Off the stick of Sami Pahlsson no less, this is not Shea Weber, Zdeno Chara, Sheldon Souray back there. I'll admit, I was kinda distracted during the game, not paying 100% attention like I usually do (had company over), so lackluster mighta been a little hard for sure.
Based on his body language, I'd say that he either was screened or that the puck hit something on the way. Not sure, just thought it looked like it on his reaction after the goal.

I think you are spot on; Byfuglien clearly screened him when attempting to block the shot. Doubt Pavs even saw it.

I think it was the latter. That shot climbed awful fast, so it either hit something or Pahlsson hammered it while it was on edge.
If there was any goal Pavs should have had, it was probably the first, even though the opportunity should have never presented itself. He didn't get himself square and let the puck go through him.
Not feeling down about last night's loss. We played one of the top teams in their building and hung in there until the end. Was it our best game. No, but we came to compete. It will be another tough one tonight, but I like our chances. I thought from the beginning 2 points on this trip would make it a success. Now just win tonight, or else it will feel like forever waiting for next Wednesday.
I was depressed last night and still am but it’s not because I think we should have won its more under the category of "lost opportunity" because we were in a position to steal a point or two "against the flow of play". The better team last night won but we were right there and a point or two would have been huge. That being said if we get two points tonight then it is mission accomplished for this road trip. If you would have told me going into the Buffalo game that we would get 4 of the next 6 available points I would have been really happy based on how Buffalo was playing, going into Van, then back to backing it in Calgary. That is a nasty stretch.
Tonight is huge and we need to win just to hang in there now...........starting with the Vancouver game we needed (need) to go above .500 on the road down the stretch (5-4 or 4-3-2 ish) and although this game is not easy it is one of the more winnable road games we will be facing.
We have been .500 on the road since February and I expect the trend to continue tonight........we conquered the back to back demon against Boston which I believe was 90% psychological so I don't expect that to be a factor tonight.
I am expecting a very good team effort and I am calling for a victory 4-2 for the Jets. I have only made a handful of predictions with scores attached this year and I have been pretty reliable on picking the results so I hope my gut doesn't let me down.
Really missed BOGO last night I thought. We could have used his physicality. Hopefully we can pull out a win tonight against the Flamers
Agree: will be great to get Bogo back. That said, with the number of days off over the last week and going into next, it's great that he's going to get some real downtime to get better.
Last night was a heartbreaker but the buys don't have any time to dwell. The Jets need some more calm with the puck. They couldn't make some offensive zone passes last night that they were doing with eyes closed the previous two weeks.
I would assume Mason is starting tonight. Will be cool to see Baertschi's NHL debut.
While I've always felt that tonight's game was the more winnable game of the road trip, I have to admit I'm not feeling very confident.
For whatever reason, we just don't seem to play well against other Canadian teams. Even teams dwelling in the basement like Edmonton and Montreal seem to have our number.
