He started out 8 points with 4 goals in the first 7 games. Then when he came back from injury it wasn't the same.
I'm hoping his groin was still strained and rushed back and now with 8 months off he'll be back to himself. That streak is the only reason he probably was re-signed.
Just a quick question for you guys. I took Mike Green in my hockey draft and I'm a bit weary about it now.... What exactly happened to the guys stats last year and what are you guys expecting out of him this year?? I really hope he can return to form. I also took Ribiero and hope he can get some time on the PP with Ovechkin.
M. Green seems like a good one to take a flyer on especially with the Capitals going back to a more pressure system. Plus that fact he's completely healthy my gut is that he'll have a bounce back year.

The surgery Green had last year was for a sports hernia. That surgery has a long recovery time, which (along with Hunter's totally repressive scheme) led to him having very little production when he came back. Also, two guys who had their first full seasons last year after returning from sports hernia surgery: Kris Versteeg and Michael Del Zotto. In other words, don't expect this to hurt him going forward. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I'm expecting a resurgence by Green. Maybe not to 70 point levels, but I think a 50 point pace is realistic.
I am looking to take Backstrom in fantasy hockey... is he injured or 100% healthy?
I believe GMGM said 100% (but don't have the exact words and you always have to be careful with him), but the indications are he's fine. Seeing the specialist may have been nothing more than a precaution. Sounds like the injury ended up being unrelated to a concussion or anything like that.
I'd think 4-5, depending on how special teams time is distributed. I wouldn't assume he ends up ahead of Hamrlik, and Alzner/Carlson/Green is clearly the top 3 when healthy (hold the laughter), but you never know.
No. It's a complete unknown. He could be as low as Hershey, although I personally think that's unlikely. They have too many defensemen. He's definitely not penciled into the top 4 at this point, but he could play his way there.
How is Hamrlik looking? What's his expectation? He's one of my BE players in my 20-team H2H Points. Saw he played with Mike Green the first game. What's his normal situation? Also, what's the expected Holtby-Neuvirth split?
WAY too early to judge, I know, but based on last season?
No idea on Holtby/Neuvirth split. We don't know how Oates handles his goalies.
It remains unclear who will be Green's primary partner, Poti or Hamrlik. Both saw almost the exact same amount of time with Green during the Tampa game. But Oates was using 7 defensemen, so there weren't any real permanent pairings outside of Carlzner. Tonight will only have 6 dmen, so there should be 3 true pairings. Hamrlik will probably be assigned to mentor Kundratek, given that Hamr was often paired with the "young guys" last year (especially while Green was out), and Kundratek had previously expressed his comfort in playing with a fellow Czech during his brief call-up last season.

Just the first game but he looked OK. Caps D looked pretty rusty and with a new D system in play.
Unless Holtby drops the ball so to speak he should generally be the starter. Not sure if Oates is one of the coaches that will go with the hot hand like Boudreau did.
Thanks guys! Helped a lot. I'm hoping he (Hamrlik) rebounds. Puts up decent points like in Montreal. With the time off and the shortened season I'm hopeful he'll have some gas in the tank.
Have to root for Oates. As a former Devil, I hope he does you guys well.
