Baby powder on stick blade?

During the Blues-Ducks game the other night Bernie Federko was talking about back in the old days players would use baby powder on their stick blades instead of wax. I've never heard of such. Has anyone tried this? If so what's your thoughts?

According to Wikipedia, Gretzky used friction tape and then used baby powder to make it less sticky. Go figure.

I've never heard of this. There's a guy on my team who has stearin on his blade. Other guys uses some type of wax that looks like a deodorant stick. I use neither.

Back in the 50's, 60's and 70's it was quite common to use baby powder to take the stickiness off the taped blade.
