Likeliness of Burke trading his 2012 1st round pick

He's likely on his last leg after missing the playoffs for his 4th straight season, pushing the Leafs into the league record book. Based on his track record, he just might further mortgage the future on draft day for immediate help next season to get the Leafs into 8th place in the conference out of 15 teams and make it look like he is, in fact, competent.

What do you guys think the likeliness of Burke finding a new home for his highest draft pick since the Nazem Kadri selection?

I'll rank it it as absolutely certain, very likely, somewhat likely, and not at all likely.

Number 1, Who cares?

Number 2, Why does this need its own thread on the main board?

Say your prayers little one
Don't forget my son,
to include everyone!

Tuck you in
Warm within
Keep you free from sin
Til the Sandman he comes

100% certain. Bourke will trade our 1st for Troy Brouwer.

Burke isn't someone who would ruin his plan just because he could be fired.. he doesn't fold under pressure.

Odds of Leaf fans having unrealistic expectations of that draft pick = 100%

I expect to trade Schenn to Edmonton, and MacA and Scriven to Chicago and end up with 3 picks, 2 in the top 5.

We'll then trade those 3 picks for Troy Brouwer.

I think Burke is working some magic right now because he is looking for a center. Burke will walk away with grigorenko or yakupov. People forget that he wanted Tavares and came close to acquiring him. He has no interest in Forsberg or galchenyuk. I think he trades nazem and his pick to move top 3

I don't think he will, Leafs will finish in the bottom 10 of the league for the 5th year in a row... but at least this time they will be rewarded with a high draft pick, unlike the previous 2 years.

Honestly I don't think Burke would dare trade that pick unless he was getting a superstar in return or moving up in the draft. Granted it would take more than that pick to get a superstar, but Burke has to understand that Leaf fans have seen him trade their picks for the last couple of drafts and even though he acquired 2 1st round picks last year, he traded them to move up but it still doesn't really take away the sting of loosing out on the chance of getting players like Tyler Seguin, Dougie Hamilton, and Jared Knight.

I have to think that if he trades that pick he is going to do it to move up in the draft.
