Was it a fun night or depressing? Any grief from the Calgary fans or was it civil?

The were A LOT of Jets fans there and we were loud.

"Go JETS Go" and "Kipppeeerrr" chants at the begining of the game.

Even when the Jets were down 3-0 "Go JETS Go" was still heard.

LOUD roar when the Jets scored.

The Flames fans were great.

The Flames organization were a**h***s.

In the first period they played the theme from "Welcome Back Kotter" while showing the Flames score or beat up the Jets 1.0.

Then, in the last minute, the played an old, sad country song while showing glum Jets fans on the Jumbotron.

I even had a Flames fan apoligize to me for it.

I agree. Mason should have started the game without a doubt. Once down 3-0 pulling Pavelec was a no-brainer IMO. Not so much because the goals were his fault, just to protect him mentally.

Don't understand the criticism of some on Kane's lone wolf tendencies, he's a sniper. The last thing this team needs is another pass-first guy. Wheeler has improved so much largely because he's shooting and driving rather than looking for the setup.

When you are on a line with Wellwood and Burmi, you better be the shooter or you are in trouble. Wellwood has the shot of a 12 year boy and Burmi's aim is terrible.

You can be a "consider a pass" guy without being a "pass-first guy". He's talented but he just does the same two or three things every time. Run into the defender along the boards (usually he gets flattened), swoop around the net in (almost always vain) hopes of scoring a highlight-reel wraparound or shoot at the goalie with no regard to setting up a better play. He's got a great shot so it all works out to some extent. But an Evander Kane with 10 fewer goals might have linemates with 15 more goals -- that's what makes me uneasy about him. Not that I'm not glad to have him on the team and I think they will work with him to help him develop a more well-rounded game.

Meh, Flames were one of the few Canadian teams that didn't have an edge on Jets v1.0, so it's not like that cuts deep or anything.

It is nice that they acknowledged us, even if it was in a backhanded way. Also, thought it was a nice touch hearing "Benny and the Jets" on the organ at Rogers Centre and the Saddledome.

Just saw the highlights of the game, couple thoughts...

-Defensemen were struggling on the PK.
-That 3rd goal shouldn't have even happened as a Flame skated by two Jets to get the puck.
-Pav bailed out Buff big time in the 2nd. Hell of a save.
-They only showed one highlight from Wheeler which was the goal but I'll take everyone's word that he played well outside of that too.
-Enstrom seemed very engaged in the offense tonight, which was good as he created two goals.
-Can we figure out this road ****? It's become a running joke it seems that we absolutely suck on the road.

I don't mind it. They are creating an atmosphere and trying to make the Saddledome a hard place to play. Besides, if you had to watch that garbage team play you'd need some extra motivation too.

I just don't get how this team can play so differently home vs. road. They look like a cup contender at home and a lottery team on the road.

The Flames are ravaged by injuries and for us to give up a 5 spot to them is obscene. I am still pissed at this game, because as apprehensive as I was in believing in this team again, I finally did just in time for them to **** the bed and drop 2 in a row.

They cannot make the playoffs like this, not even if the other EC teams give them chance after chance.

You HAVE TO SCORE ON THE DAMNED PP when you get the chance and the game is on the line!!! HAVE TO!

Our special teams killed us the past 2 games. Even if you aren't playing great, executing on PP and PK can make up for it.

It's not the shoot-first mentality that bugs me about Kane. That's not what I'm referring to when I talk about him going lone wolf. It's when he goes headlong into the teeth of the opposing defense, and just negates the rush.

You can play a snipers game and not have blinders on, which is too often what Kane seems to have. Wheeler is the perfect example that Kane should follow, his drives to the net are calculated, he sees an opportunity and goes for it. Kane drives the net whenever he feels like it, and throws himself into 1 vs 2 situations when being just a tad more patient could give him some support.

When Kane's on his game, he's able to do some real nice things off give-and-go's. Problem is, he's not consistent with that, and starts pressing when things aren't going his way.

The encouraging thing is, I think Kane can learn to play a more patient calculated game. He is after all still very young. He will have to be willing to learn, though, which remains to be seen.

I just fail on every level to understand why we can look like a legitimate playoff team at home yet play poor on the road. I just don't get it. I can't even round up my thoughts on these last two games as its all been said before. It boggles my mind.

While the Jets road woes are frustrating, it's not as though it's totally unique to them. TB and WSH have an extremely similar home vs. road predicament.

Overall, I'm still not ready to push the panic button. I like our goaltending vs. all the teams we're battling for 8th, and that counts for so much at this stage of the season. I think Pavelec is going to steal a couple for us on the road that we'd otherwise have no business winning.

Good post Hank

I have gotten on EK at times this year but feel he has grown a bit as far as results. I think what we see is what we get with Kane and his growth will come but it will be SLOW. I would like to see him have the puck on his stick less but for that to happen he will need a linemate who loves to handle the puck and dish it better than Burmi is doing currently

Bill Russell the 10 time Celtic NBA champ was brought in to the dressing room to addres the Celtic players who were in a slump about 6 years back. One of their big problems was that they had a shoot first player who was slumping. Most of the players felt Russell would critisize the player but instead he turned it on the team. He said "you know Pierce is going to shoot so your job is to bust your but to ensure he gets better quality looks and shots" It really took the team back but his point was shooters shoot so get them in the best position to capitalize. It is both a weakness and a strength that Kane is selfish and since that probably won't change anytime soon then work to that reality. Get the complimentary players that can carry the puck well and get dirty in the paint to open up the ice for him.

He is not a smart player and yet he is still putting up very good numbers for a 20 year old.....work with what we have and let's get him up to 40 goals next year while we wait for other aspects of his play to grow.

it was not too bad, but there was still the typical 18-25 year old D-bag who was mouthy and claiming how bad the city of Winnipeg is and taunting when the Flames scored but hiding and not facing us when the jets scored.

Nothing that a little "shut up" couldn't take care of as the D-bags always mouth off but they are cowards one somebody calls them out.

Just got home from Calgary. Had no real problems with the Flames fans. Couple chirps on the way out but it was just in fan fun. The locals that seen us in our gear on the train and casino after the game were very friendly.

Overall the wife and I enjoyed our night out childless. Plus I got to meet Mark Chipman and thank him for everything he's done.

I want nothing to do with Stapleton. The fact we only have 3 lines was exposed against the Nucks. Mietennen, Antropov and Stapleton are useless.
