Name me some quarterbacks who made the Conference Finals 2 out of their first 3 seasons.
Thought so.
The hate/disrespect for this kid is unreal.
The greatest irony is how Giants fans hate on him, joke about him when they play the blame carousel every year with their players and coaches, only to treat them as legends when they respond as champions.
No thank you to Peyton.
The Jets made the correct choice.
Is that LOGIC I see?!?!?! As a fellow Jets fan, it's good to see that some of us have been able to retain the ability to think logically.
I think it's unfair to compare Sanchez to Eli year by year when Eli was much more polished coming out of college (44 starts to Sanchez's 16). However for comparisons sake lets take a look at their 3rd year:
Sanchez:
8-8 record, 26 touchdowns, 18 interceptions, 3,474 passing yards, and a 56.7 completion percentage.
Eli:
An 8-8 record, 24 touchdowns, 18 interceptions, 3,244 passing yards, and a 57.5 completion percentage.
But if you want to read absolute no-nothings like Gary Myers, and whoever the moron is that writes the rotoworld blurbs, Sanchez is either coming off of his worst year or has plateaued. Nevermind the fact that he set career highs in literally every statistical category with the worst talent he's had around him since he came into the league and two absolute MALCONTENTS ruining his huddle. But let's not let facts get in the way of the reactionary morons that are calling for this kids head.
QB's are a 5 year proposition especially when you draft one that's coming out as a junior. Unless they look totally lost, or are sipping on that purple drank, it's all about patience.
League spokesman Michael Signora advises via email that the full $38 million hits the cap in 2012. If the salary cap is in the expected range of $120 million, that leaves the Colts (abacus engaged) $82 million to field a team this year.
Len Pasquarelli (Not sure how reliable to take him) says Bears have been interested in acquiring Dwight Freeney but because of cap costs they are waiting to see if he is released
Idea would be to play Freeney opposite Peppers on passing downs with Idonije (Who has to be signed) coming in as rotation DE. If Bears resign Okoye which is expected (Hoped at least) the Bears would have a pretty formidable front 4 for at least a few more years (Freeney/Peppers probably have 2-4 yrs left in them of top play)
It looks awful at first look but it is mainly moving cap money around. And the 3 added years are all optional.
Quote:
Yes, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will earn $20.5 million in guaranteed money in 2012 and 2013 as part of his new contract. The fact, however, that Sanchez already was due to earn $17.75 million over the next two seasons has prompted one league source to characterize the move as a “lipstick and powder” deal.
For an extra $2.75 million, Sanchez gave the Jets three straight option years, allowing the team to keep him if he finally realizes his full potential — and to cut him without further investment after the 2013 season, the 2014 season, or the 2015 season.
The contract also could be called a glorified restructuring. Per a source with knowledge of the details, Sanchez’s $11.75 million base salary for 2012 has been converted to an $8 million signing bonus, a fully-guaranteed base salary of $3.25 million, and a $500,000 workout bonus.
The Redskins moved up 4 spots, landing the #2 overall pick (aka RG3) and gave up their 1st and 2nd round picks in this years draft, a 1st in 2013 and 2014.
That seems like a MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSIVE overpaiement to jump up 4 spots just to pick up RG3.
