Hopefully this puts an end to the bleeding hearts around here who think that the tough guy has no place in today's game.

Domi was tough, and was one of the classiest players in the game.

A good tough clean hockey player.

Just ask Ulf Samuelsson or Scott Niedermayer

Thats why i hope we trade for Mark McNeil + of Chicago for Grabo

That and draft Brendan Gaunce this year

When Brad Ross comes up with Biggs, Gaunce, McNeil and Nilson, Gransberg were going to be a nightmare to play against

While I agree with your overall point, Samuelsson had it coming. Just ask Cam Neely.

The good old days indeed. At least the opposition knew that they'd have to answer the bell for any cheapshots.

While I appreciate the toughness aspect that Domi brought to the Leafs, that however is very debatable.

So we are clear about this, Tie Domi was more than just a fighter. He scored 104 goals in his career and hit 20 points a season 5 times. He had the ability to contribute in the NHL.

The issue isnt that he fought. The problem now is guys who can do nothing but fight, like Orr. I dont mind guys like Mike Brown, Kyle Clifford, Zenon Konopka who have some hockey ability

This. I'd gladly take a fighter with some hockey skill like Neil, or Lucic, for instance.

Also, Domi was not clean lol. He was a dirty player...I do love him though. Or did.

Zenon is pretty limited in hockey sense. I like Neil though.

My least favourite Leaf of all time.

Give him credit though, he played his role well.

The Leafs were fairly successful but also horridly out gunned in the playoffs when it mattered.

Yep. Domi, with the Leafs, *averaged* 9 goals and 21 points per 82 games.

Certainly wasn't going to be a threat to win the art ross or anything, but compare that to Colton Orr who has a *total* of 11 goals and 20 points in 378 career games.

I still remember this dark day in Leaf history:

6/28/1990: Toronto Maple Leafs traded Tie Domi and Mark LaForest to the New York Rangers for Greg Johnston.

Tie was only about 21 years old at the time. Just think if we had him the whole time.

This is what we gave up to get him back:

4/07/1995 Winnipeg Jets traded Tie Domi to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Mike Eastwood and 3rd round selection (Brad Isbister) in 1995.

Well, minus that dirty elbow on Scott Neidermayer.

Domi was Clean and Classy? That guy was the biggest ASS going. Outside of Samuelsson or Scott Niedermayer I remember a report that he told some kid to ******* *ff when he approached him and Sundin for an autograph walking through a hotel he was staying at. A friend of mine said he was also an ass to him and his kid at a soccer field they were at asking for an autograph.

Here's another story.

http://waynesworldminorhockey.blogsp...or-hockey.html

He's not classy.

I don't know, I've met Domi twice for autographs as a kid. As a kid we were at the Barrie Colts arena where the Leafs had been practicing and my brother had basically put me on his shoulders and plastered me against the glass, I was freaking out and trying to get down and Tie flipped a puck up to me then signed my jersey afterwards. Couple years later he signed a rookie card of him I had. Both times he was a geniunely nice cool guy.

Domi was a clown on skates. One of the most useless 'name' players we've had on this team in history.
