should be a fun player to watch for Bridgeport. Very good signing IMO! protection for our better prospects down at the port.

He was a linemate of Chicago's Andrew Shaw who went undrafted for 2 years before the Hawks took a flyer on the kid in the 5th round. He signed an AHL contract(not an ELC) fore going an overage junior year and by Christmas he so impressed the Hawks they signed him to an ELC.
Great pick up by the Isles!
absolutely. credit where it's due, this kid was a good signing, the ones we typically miss out on. potential Nelson and Lee signings plus Halmo a boost for the Bridge.

Shaw looks solid btw.

I just saw the video. Viscous hit delivered without mercy. I think I saw him stare down at Nail as if to say, "They call me the Halmmer."

I'd like to get a good break down on his core hockey game from some of you minor league gurus. Skating, speed, hockey sense, ability to see the entire ice, etc. If he can hold his own on the 4th line with Haley then I at least have that to look forward too next season.

Btw, you have 17, 18, 19 and 20 year olds in the OHL.
When players put up numbers like that as 17 year olds in their FIRST taste in the OHL. You take notice.
When they progress each year and max out at 20 years of age like Halmo did...well, you get the point.
In other words, don't expect too much.

I wish our media would not just throw out their NUMBERS in these tweets and news flashes. This is nothing to sneeze at, not worth the tissue.
lol, I am going to take the opinion of the guy who watches the Attack regularly over the guy that has most likely never seen Halmo play.

Could be.
Then again...he's been that way continuously.
People look at his penalty minutes and assume he's a fighter, tough guy.
He's not the most disciplined guy. Has only a handful of fighting majors.
You can pretty much figure out the rest of the penalty minutes.

You know nothing and should feel shame. Disregard the last 11 years like I do, bud. Might I suggest a nice walk to clear your mind. Maybe consider watching nascar as it is easier to understand for us laymen?

OTH, we warn them year after year after year.
We get called names directly or indirectly.
But it's amazing how only now some come around to Wang and Snow.
Some came around last year. Same for our DiPietro warnings 3 years ago no?
Same for the ones who told us we were wrong when complaining that Kyle Okposo was NOT captain material. Blake Comeau was NOT a player this franchise can waste anymore time on.
Same for the ones who told us we were nuts to suggest the stache was worthless as was the guy before him with that ridiculous "wrecker" nickname.

Nope, we know nothing.

Let's all read some articles, tweets and a few posts from people who watch players at 20 years old compete and dominate against younger players who's bodies have not physically matured.

Same for the ones who bought the Wang "losing millions" nonsense till they read the Forbes data.
Can list so much but I know NOTHING.

This is why people who truly know the game don't make big deals about any undrafted player who's doubled his point total in the OHL at 20.
It's the ones that shine at 17/18 when they first get there that have a better shot.

This guy's ceiling is a 4th line callup.
But please let me have it.

Hey, Steve?

Why do they have numbers AND LETTERS on their back? Could they just make it less confusing and put pictures? Maybe the players' faces?

It's just life....any negativity and out comes Sunshine Brigade 3rd Artillary Division.

OK Nostradamus please share with us your wisdom on who and who will not be 'real' NHL players in the Islanders system. Do I think this Halmo guy is going to be any good. I have no idea as I have never seen him play. But he cost the team nothing in assets to acquire so who cares. You spout out all your predictions that have already materialized How about filling us mortals in with your knowledge of the future. Thank you

PROMputt...
not trying to start a dispute here.
I don;t post as much as I'd like.
The stuff I listed above...
well, if you were posting here the last 3+ years, you would have seen
myself and OTH post about Dipietro's nonsense while many defended him.
Wang, Snow etc etc.
Don't want to get off topic. I'll leave it at this. Halmo will be another meh player.
I'm not Nostradamus, but I know just a lil bit about hockey.

He has a role if the team LETS him - a 4th line agitator who can grow into a scorer. NO ONE can see if he has the will to continue to evolve. Haley is a perfect example.

Haley can punish opponents and score. Not much.....but if he continues to work hard and give 100% effort, I bet he can contribute 10-15 goals and play HARD. Same goes for this kid. He's a late bloomer so ya never know. But the odds are on him being a solid AHL'er and nothing more. The beautiful thing about humans - they can work hard and make it. (my Conservative spiel I believe in wholeheartedly). If Halmo continues to evolve, second line? If he can't do it against AHL'ers, nothing lost here. We'll just have to see, but the odds are he's a nothing signing in the grand scheme of things unless we use tough fourth line pressure in the future.

Well said but I'm surprised of what you left out.
The whole best case scenario for a players development usually pertains to better run organizations. All the more reason I'm saying this guy will be nothing more than an ahler and or callup for this franchise.
We are not Detroit, we do not have the player development personnel, coaches etc to cultivate players the way other organizations do so some on the cusp are at a disadvantage.

Regardless of where he's at developmentally, I think it's safe to say that Bridgeport's the team to watch - at least for us dejected Islander fans. The attitude change can hopefully pour into this roster the more the Tigers win. The "cavalry" we're all waiting for (JT likely most of all) is 90% from Bridgeport, and if the AHL playoffs commence with players like Donovan, Rakhshani & Cizikas knowing they can skate a little more easy with guys like Haley & Halmo not just policing the ice, but skating hard, forechecking and being good examples of gritty hard work which is the likely ceiling for both, all to the good......as long as that particular hard-working trend is continued at the NHL level through players such as Matt Martin.

At this point, I'll take it because Bridgeport is the team I'm going to have a **** fit and jump ship for, and in the AHL having a guy or two with that kind of skillset can help, since the talent level isn't as 'cream of the crop.' That, and the meaner/more competitive Bridgeport gets, the meaner/more competitive the Islanders get....I hope.

As far as better run organizations go, we're in agreement. I'm just hoping that they insulate the hell out of the Sound Tigers to minimize the likely ruination by Isles' management.

I was just thinking it would be just our luck to get Nail only for him to have concussion problems because of a hit from one of our own prospects.

Not funny but in the context of funny because it's us, yes.
That would be just our luck. After getting the wind knocked out of our sails last year with Jersey winning the draft lottery, it would be so ironic to win it this year and take Yakupov only to realize he has issues thanks to Halmo.

You cannot script stuff like this.

Considering the majority of players don't make it, and those that do, don't amount to what they are predicted...I wouldn't say you are going out on a limb.
