I thought this discussion was already over..
Anyways, We really do need help in all areas besides goaltending. Obviously we have a strong defensive youth core, but we lack good veterans besides Markov/Gorges.. A center would be ideal of course, whether it be Grigo or Galchenyuk, but a player like Forsberg would be great.

Is Grigorenko going to say anything different?????? I am not saying that he doesn't like playing in the Q but he certainly wouldn't publicly admit it in his draft year.

People really have to stop using Patrick Roy's "endorsement" as well. Roy isn't going to throw his prized possession under the bus even though Roy has admitted to having to speak with Grigorenko about various issue.

Let's hear some positive character endorsements outside of Grigorenko's own team.

Roy has never been big on praising guys like Stefanovich who had serious talent but serious character issues. He never buried him, but he also didn't bring out the praise in the same way he has with Grigorenko.

Stefanovich had talent but not nearly at the same level as Grigorenko.

"Si quelqu'un trouve Stefanovich, appellez moi, je vais aller le chercher, ça va me faire plaisir."

If someone finds Stefanovich, call me, I'll be happy to go get him.

I forgot about that quote!

Roy and Stefanovich never liked each other. Roy didn't trade him because he didn't to damage his relations with European agents but he never stopped himself from making bad comments about him. He paid him huge bucks and even went to Belarus to convince him to join the Remparts but when he was here, he was treated like any other player in the locker room and in the press conference.

Stop saying Patrick lies about Grigorenko's attitude. He never did and never will. He might just shut up but he won't praise a player if he doesn't believe what he says.

He looks like his team lost bad... but they actually won the game that night. 6-5 in OT. First game of the playoffs in 2010.

But Roy praised Esposito a lot and said the Habs should've drafted him

Was Roy supposed to know his career would be ruined by injuries?

No but the pattern was clear since his draft year. Only a year before his draft he was supposed to be a top 3 pick. Then at the draft he was projected to be a top 10, then he fell to 18. A lot of teams passed on him for a reason.

He was massively overrated thanks to Radulov and regardless of injuries. At best he would be a Pouliot if he was in the NHL right now.

Bottom line, it's to their advantage for junior coaches to hype their players...not a hard concept to grasp.

Injuries might have put the nail in the coffin but his attitude/work ethic was the biggest issue.

I put zero weight in roys opinion of his own player.

I dont think we can be certain of that.

And even if we could, Roy wouldnt be the first person to overrate a player (see David Fischer)

Roy was very critical of Esposito in his draft year, even more the season after and then he had too much and traded him away.

Esposito had no attitude/work ethic issue. He was a perimeter player and got injured too much. He always had back problems. He was good the half-season he played with Montreal and at the WJC but after he injured his ACL and was out for 8 months. He came back and got injured again to his ACL. He played only 12 games between January 2009 and October 2010 at a very critical moment for his career (20-21 years old). His main weapon was his speed and I heard he isn't as fast as he was before his two injuries.

Hopefully we get to see Galchenyuk at his best.

Truly they should be a great difference maker for the Sarnia playoff hopes. With Galchenyuk centering the PP and Yakupov finishing, stands to reason the Sting will really bite. The Grigorenko-Roy combination will have a hard time trying to match their output and when they do it may be to late,Edmonton will want Gringo.or maybe Columbus as the center for Nash.

Hope so, but much like Markov we may only see him at 75-80% this year

So if he rips it up, we'll be even more amazed. And if he doesn't... well, same as before, we'll mostly look back fondly on last season. Either way.
