"Can't be worse than Crawford" and "Next NHL Star with Chicago" are two very different things.

Future good backup maybe, future NHL Star, no. He if he was a future NHL star this wouldn't be his 3rd team since being drafted and he would have seen NHL time by now.

Very, very unlikely Hutton ever developes into anything more than he is now, a decent AHL 1A/B goalie. I'd be surprised if he made the NHL as a consistent back-up and absolutely shocked if he became a "future NHL star".

3 topics about an AHL goalie, I don't see any hard on.

Guess we'll have to keep him until his NHL debut at 32 and find out.

And then he'll invent some kind of mask thingy... yeah I can't pull that off. But still, good comparison. Same situation, chances are one in a million that we get the same results.

Given the state of the organization, Hutton has earned an NHL start this year, at least.

The only player in Rockford history to earn TWO AHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARDS inone season (with games still to go)...this must indicate something...save % upto .916 now ...pretty good NCAA goalie for U. Mass-Lowell --he got progressively better each year (Fr. --.889;Soph---.909; Jr. ---.916; Sr. --- .928)--again getting better indicates something....there is nothing to say he can't become a very good NHL goalie if he keeps improving..

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I wouldn't be upset if Hawks gave him a shot. NOW.

And better yet, give him that shot when he's feeling it. Who knows what can happen. He could give up 5 goals to the Blues or 4 goals to L.A. Or he could improve the goaltending position, you never know and this is the kind of situation where a guy like Hutton gets his chance. If I was him, I'd be looking at the Hawks and thinking it's right there.

I don't think they can send either of the current goalies down to Rockford - so I guess you just sit one of them in the press box as a healthy scratch if they do this? I'm not against trying him out.

Expanded rosters. Let them both sit in the press box and watch.

Heh, well one needs to be dressed in case Hutton gets hurt. I would definitely give Crawford the nod for sitting in the press box. He's been paid 3.25 mil this season to be one of the worst goalies in the NHL.
