Because right now Jimmy is better than him or is more NHL ready. The other thing was that he is doing good, but not great. He could have and probably should have 10 more goals this year for Boston College. Honestly, maybe he should have been a high 2nd round pick not a 1st round pick. I'm glad we have him I like his size. I've never seen him play so hard to judge him just off his college numbers. Yet they are lower than was expected and projected. His progression was slowed a bit this year.

Shaw has the upside of Matthew Barnaby. He's getting an obscene amount of love based on a fast start and a good motor.

If Bowman were to give us his top 5 - it wouldn't shock me if McNeill isn't on the list. Of course, he would never publicly admit his most recent top draft pick isn't in the top 5.

I'll go with...

1) Saad
2) Morin
3) Jayes
4) Danault
5) Olsen/Johns <--- either or
You honestly believe that the most talented and well-rounded centre prospect in our system wouldn't be in Bowman's top 5? But Danault would?

Kinda like Smith last year.. ah yes, I remember all the heat I got for saying Smith had no buisness being in our HFBoards fan poll Top-5 last year.

For the record, I've seen Saad play alot this year and I could easily see a case being made for McNeill. It's not all about who's scoring more points, this year. It's about their long-term potential and the likelyhood of reaching that potential.

I think Saad's going to be a fantastic player. He's big, he's strong, he's a powerful skater and he has a great shot... but if people were asked who'd be better last year, it would have been McNeill by a mile.

I agree

but to be fair, he already scored more NHL goals than 33% of all our other prospects will ever score

Chicago Blackhawks maintain one of the deepest prospect pools in NHL[/B]

Is anyone else not impressed with any of our prospects except for Olsen, Saad, Hayes, Shaw, and McNeil?

-Morin has only been called up once and didn't look like anything special
-Pirri is most notorious for missing a wide open net in the first game of the year and then being invisible in his other callup(s)
-Salak has either been injured or getting lit up
-Beach is still an injury mystery
-Smith, who for some reason was met with sooooo much anticipation on this board proved nothing in his callup
-Nordstrom already reminds of a Kruger-esque player who isn't strong enough for the NHL
-Everyone else hasn't played with the Hawks yet, or atleast seen significant time

I dont know boys, color me unimpressed. I really hope Saad, McNeil, Morin and Olsen pan out because so many of us, myself included, have loved these guys and they havn't proven much, if anything yet.

I think that is even giving him too much credit.

I don't mind Shaw, but I don't think he will be anything more than a 4th liner/AHLer.
