Game #70 Blues @ Columbus Blue Jackets

Part two. The Blues start the road trip that will define whether they are a legit President's Trophy team. But more importantly, will they finish above Detroit? Games against non-playoff teams can't be dropped if they want to finish strong.

Things got a little chippy last night. The atmosphere will be interesting.

Yup. As long as no one ends up on the IR, I'd love to see this one turn into a bloodbath. These two teams were never very fond of each other the past couple seasons and if Columbus' ship hadn't sunk so quickly this year I think we might've seen a real rivalry start to develop.

Go Blues. Looking at the standings last night felt strange, I don't think it's even sunk in that we're the top NHL team right now. New territory for this era of Blues

Completely agreed. I'm sort of upset that crombeen has been doing the majority of the fighting, if that makes sense.

I'm going with a Blues win, 5-3. Stewart with the Gordie Howe hat trick.

I have doubts anyone on Columbus fights Reeves unless they re-activate Boll.

Byers and Boyce are not going to go near Reeves with any real intention of fighting. That is one of the reasons Crombeen does much of the fighting (and that he seems to enjoy it)

He should add some energy and leadership to the team. Can never have enough of either of those.

Halak is sick of Elliott getting starts, so he decides just to shut everyone out.

From Twitter:

Darren R Pang ‏ @Panger40
Langenbrunner is a player tonight for #Blues in Columbus. When a veteran knocks on the door and says he's ready, you put him in. Reaves out.

------

Does that mean that Reaves is a healthy scratch today?

Reaves is scratched tonight per Panger.

I'm almost always in favor of playing Porter over Reaves, but this move doesn't make sense to me. I'd rather have Reaves in for this game.

Hmmm, I really want to see Langs get back in the line-up, but I really like Reaves' game too. On that same note, I like Porter's game.

When's the last time we've had this problem?

I'm starting to get sick of Halak,he better have a shutout..allowing 1 goal is going to be unacceptable.

And if he gives up 2 goals we trade him immediately for a 5th round draft pick in the offseason

I hope that's a joke.

A 5th round pick is clear overpayment for Halak

Come on guys, we all know that the goalie market is crap, and Halak is just a product of the system.

I really do love when people say the market for trading goalies is crap, when you look at what Varlamov and Bishop got lol.

Interesting. Maybe Hitchcock doesn't want a lot of fights tonite where somebody could get hurt.

@panger40 says Reaves sits tonight....he and Colton Gillies had some words late in last night's game...so much for a carry over w/ these two

Thinking a 3-2 victory tonight.

Blues - Berglund, Mcdonald, Backes

Columbus - Nash, Umberger

I wonder how many times they bring up Schwartz during the game.
