I'd rather keep the two 1st rounders with the current regime's 1st rd draft history

Depends. If it's the Jackets, they've expressed a desire for a top pairing defenseman. McNabb: close, big, young, cheap and with lots of untapped potential would be the guy from Buffalo's stable. I can't see the draft picks alone doing it, Buffalo would have to kick in a choice prospect (McNabb, Armia) or youngster (Hodgson, Ennis) while we'd probably rather see them deal the less prime cuts (Adam, Brennan) or the current Grade D beef (Roy, Stafford).

If Howson is a shrewd guy, he'd be asking about Hodgson and McNabb.

Moving up does not preclude them from getting more self-started, high-character players (read: vets) to continue building out the lineup. They were deficient last season and didn't increase their experience level this summer, instead moving laterally overall.

I am content on drafting where we will be at with a possible lesser move if neccessary to try to draft Gaunce, Faska or Girgensons and possibly Sissons with our other 1st. We could also use these picks to go after an established #1C as opposed to rolling the dice on Grigorenko, Galchenyuk or Yakupov. If Galchenyuk drops somewhat to the 5-7 range and we can get him without mortgaging the farm, I wouldn't be opposed to it.

What are you talking about?

The current drafting regime had their first draft in 2007. They are the guys that drafted our current top propects and young core.

Myers, Ennis, Armia, Pysyk, Adam, McNabb, Foligno, Brennan, Sundher, and Catenacci. They also drafted Kassian who we obviously traded for Hodgson.

Only Myers, Ennis and Enroth are on the roster and none of them are being forced into roles they can't handle. Of that group Myers is considered a franchise dman, Armia is considered a top line scoring talent and we've only scratched the surface of what Ennis could be.

The players you are complaining about are not the work of the current group running things.

Point of order, Enroth was 2006.
