He was HUGE on the Butler bandwagon last year. He sure loves his long shots. Or loves his long shots when he has money on them.
It's the latter and it's a lot of money. It was an interesting concept for a pool though that I'd like to partake in if I have $500 to blow this time next year

I know I asked him last year why he was such a big Butler fan (assumed the rare possibility he went to school there). He had explained it then but I forgot by now. Is it a group of people and you draw a team (or maybe multiple teams) at random from the start. Winner gets the pot or something?

Yea, you get a seed at random before the tournament starts. He got the 15 of whatever bracket they are in. The winner of the game is who covers. So if they cover Ohio St tonight he actually wins that game and will have Ohio St for the next round and it keeps going like that. The final person wins the money but if you have to actual winner at the beginning you get a little bit of money if you were eliminated earlier because of spreads

Sounds like it would be complicated when you first start, and then after the first 2-3 sessions of the day it makes total sense. Would be cool to do... if you have a few hundred bucks to blow as you said. Put this in the "Goals" column
I've been a addicted to college basketball since my freshman year of high school, and today was likely the worst day 1 of the tournament I've ever seen.
Two exciting games (VCU and Syracuse), one of which was probably the worst late game officiating I've ever seen. Who the **** calls a lane violation that late in a game when it isn't blatant? And then compounded with the out of bounds call? What a joke.
The last time a 1st day was this boring was in 2007, IIRC, and the 2nd day was pretty awesome, I think. I don't care if all the favorites win, I just want some excitement.
I got Purdue, Texas, NC State, and USF all pulling upsets tomorrow.

Same here. In reality, I could care less if the teams in my bracket win if I get to see a bunch of great finishes to the games of that day. Pick any two seeds, and either team could win for all I care. But I just love the games that go down to the wire. The two games that had that were the 2 endings I couldn't watch as I was at the Devils game. Hoping for better finishes today.
I have Purdue and USF today. I picked Belmont to upset Georgetown personally. I may have been guessing out of my ass, but I'm really not sold on Georgetown. I've only watched 2 or 3 of their games (the loss to SHU and their 2nd round matchup in the Big East vs. Pitt) and was far from impressed in either. Belmont has a big enough offense (and is a really good 3 point shooting team), so if they come out hot, they could pull this off. The mid-majors that can shoot 3's are always the ones that are most dangerous for the upsets.
Texas looks like crap. Cincinnati is playing to Texas's strength, but Texas can't make a shot to save their lives. Fortunately for them, Cincinnati isn't putting this game out of reach.
