Kevin Roy was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week with 2 goals and a primary assist in two wins for Northeastern.

Kid's got some sick talent.

Now that is very interesting
We don't seem to have a real shutdown center in our system, so that would be cool if he shows promise there

I was at the NU/BC game on Saturday. Roy was arguably the best player out there. He controlled play when he was on the ice during the first period. His goal was nasty. He got set up on a great pass from the right of the net to him at the left post. He went one timer, snap, bar down! He did seem to be tired at the end of one of his shifts with only 3 minutes left in the first, though. He also struggled a lot in the faceoff circle. I think he only won one or two draws all night.
So I'd say if he gets a little more in shape, works on draws and also works on his defensive stick skills. He definitely has the ability to be a top 5 NCAA prospect, but he also has a ways to go before he is pro material. Definitely has a lot of potential!!

PS: Just remembered this: He also hit two posts! He was a force.

I know he isn't a Ducks prospect but he is a guy we recently passed on. Mikhail Grigorenko has 20 points in 9 games. Crazy.

I really think alot of teams will regret that. But the risk is there with him.

I read about Helgesen here: https://twitter.com/DucksProspects

Can`t say any details, as i didn`t saw the game at all. Maybe highlights are available?

I did notice he didn`t play in one of previous games. Dunno why, but i noticed Calgary is stacked with defensemen. IDK if his tryout at center is bad or good, but i`m more sceptical. Well, at least it doesn`t look like he`s an irreplacable defensive cornerstone. It`s just an speculation, though. Maybe they were really short at the center. speculations, speculations, speculations. We need to get opinion from someone closer to Calgary Hitman fanbase or team. Someone contact Getzlaf

Hey, I might've seen you outside Matthews before the game. Were you wearing a Ducks hat?

Would it be relevant to compare (or draw some similarities here) Roy and St.Louis? Well, St.Lois wasn`t drafted at all, well Roy was drafted as an overager. Both are undersized, but smart (at least, McNabb said he is really smart player ) and very skilled players. Forwards (C/LW). They are playing in the same league, too, right? (correct here maybe).
Well, St.Louis started to play in NCAA when he was 18, though. In his 2nd year, which compares to Roys 1st, depending on age, St.Louis scored 71P in 35G.

I really haven`t saw that much of Roy. In Canda-Russia challange imo he looked like he had all the talent in the world, he was just bad with some decisions and role he was put in. Probably too much to handle from USHL straight to top junior opposition in the world.

For those, who have watched St.Lois more - what do you think? I think there are at least some similarities between those two.

Well the similarities are they are both undersized and are both highly skilled. So yes they have similarities. But honestly there are a ton of undersized scorers who crush it in college/the ahl and can never seem to make the transition to the NHL.

It takes a special type of undersized player to make it in the NHL. He certainly seems to have the skill, but it's the ability to go into corners to elude checks to get into scoring lanes that will determine if Roy is a NHL player.

You need to have a thick neck if you're a smallish person to survive in the NHL. Of course, I'm basing this soley on Andy Mac. = )

Ass king?

(I tried to search for ass king... hoping for maybe a picture of a crown on top of some butt cleavage. Not the smartest idea. Damn the internet.)

Andy Mac doesn't have a neck. He is torso from the chin down.
