NFL Question

How good do you think are the chances of all these happening this weekend :

Indianapolis beats Houston
New-England beats Buffalo
Philadelphia beats Dallas
P. Manning [IND] gets more passing yards than D. Carr [HOU]
M. Faluk [STL] gets more rushing yards than D. Davis [HOU]

Pretty good chances, but I might get more rushing yards than Marshall Faulk if Martz doesn't take his pills.

I think that all of these things have atleast 75% chance of happening. The first 4 are almost 100% but you never know, anything can happen on any given sunday. The last one has me concerned though because Davis is playing against a suspect Indy defence and I think that the Rams will be airing it our against the Hawks because of their secondary not being that good and that is how they got back into and won the game last time. I think that both teams will be playing from behind though so both of them shouldn't get that many yards.

Let's break each down by a rough percentage chance:

Quote:
Indianpolis beats Houston
New-England beats Buffalo
Philadelphia beats Dallas
Each has about a 75% chance of happening.

Quote:
P. Manning [IND] gets more passing yards than D. Carr [HOU]
75% chance. The only reason it isn't 90% or higher is because Carr is facing a piss poor Colts pass defense.

Quote:
M. Faulk [STL] gets more rushing yards than D. Davis [HOU]
60%. Sorry, but Faulk just doesn't get the workload he used to.

So, multiple the odds together:

.75 x .75 x .75 x .75 x .60 = 18.9% chance.

Sorry, but in the world of parity in the NFL, you really only have about a one in four chance of all these things happening.

The first three probably have a 75% chance of happening. The next one I'd say has an 80% or better of happening, as while Indy has a suspect secondary, Houston doesn't have the receiving corps or the QB to shred it. The last one is a toughie. Faulk doesn't get the workload he used to, and probably won't run for all that much, but Davis likely won't either. Indy doesn't have a great run defense, but Houston isn't going to run alot if they're playing catch-up.

I'm not sure that all of those things will happen, but there's a good chance IMO.

Indy has the worst pass defense in the league. Carr is 5th in passing in the league, Andre Johnson is 5th in the league in recieving yards per game. Houston will shred it, but whether or not they'll get more than Indy is up in the air.

Would you do any of these :

Replace P. Manning [IND] gets more passing yards than D. Carr [HOU] with Atlanta beats Tampa Bay

Replace M. Faulk [STL] gets more rushing yards than D. Davis [HOU] with C. Portis [WAS] gets more rushing yards than R. Johnson [CIN] or T. Barber [NYG] gets more rushing yards than A. Green [GB]

I would not touch the Manning/Carr as people have said. Perhaps its the Texans fan in me, but the Texans dont have a bad pass defense. In fact they are second in the league with 11 picks(also 2nd in the league with 18 TDs allowed..bah). If we're going by yards, the colts are DEAD LAST in yards allowed and as been said, Carr has the 5th most in the league.

Well since this has started what are the odds

Houston beats 9.5 spread vs Indy
Buffalo beats 8.5 spread vs NE
Tampa Bay beats 3.5 spread vs Atlanta
Seatle beats 1.5 spread vs Rams

Now that I took a look at the spreads, there's a decent chance Indy won't cover the spread. Same with New England. If the spread doesn't matter, then never mind.

It seems like I was wrong, and now I need your help even more...

Indianapolis would have to beat Houston by 9,5 points
New-England would have to beat Buffalo by 8,5 points
Philadelphia would have to beat Dallas by 7,5 points
Plus the two other things I said in my first post...

Is this possible?

I picked both Buffalo and Houston to beat their spreads. And the dallas game is iffy considering Parcells called them a bunch of idiots so they may be motivated which could cause a close game

Yup, definetly a homer.

P. Manning 15 20 215 4 1

D. Carr 11 21 109 0 2

Through 3 quarters.

I fail to see how that was him being a homer. The Texans enter this game with one of the better passing games in the NFL, and facing one of the worst teams against the pass.

But anyway, the Texans are definitely getting exploited here.

What? He made that statement days ago. Look at the season numbers, the Colts have a truly pathetic pass defense, and as I said before the Texans have the #5 QB and WR in yards. It's easy to say it wouldn't be close once the game is played.
