Bummer. What strain? Regular, new improved or Andromeda?
200,000 students in my area, 2.5million in the country were infected with the new strain. Sucks. I went to doc and he said,"sorry, no strong meds for you, we have to save it for the new strain people". Unreal.
I want to play Craps so bad. I'm in pretty much semi-weekly poker games in town, but it's just not cutting it. I gotta get on the tables.
I feel the same way. I was in AC over the weekend and played craps for somewhere between 4-8 hours. Although, I was winning lots of money at that time, which also may be why I want to go back asap.

It's just something about craps. Throwing down the bills, people's crazy rituals, tipping through bets, chatting with the dealers, man, I love all of it.

That's why its my favorite. Its more of a community game than any other. And when people are being vocal (and the dealers aren't totally still and unresponsive), it is just a fun place to be. Aside from the fact my friends and I were winning a lot, the other night was fun as hell. People were cheering, a lot of points were coming up, and everyone was excited. There was one roll where a guy was on the 'don't pass' and even he was excited when the point came up, as a few people won a lot of money and were really happy.
I'm always tempted to play don't pass because it's is ever so slightly better than the pass line, but I figure that few tenths of a percent isn't worth being THAT GUY.
also Craps isn't that complex. I can teach someone to play the basic minimize house edge and maximize volatility strat in like, 5 minutes.
Craps is such a complex game, with a jargon all to its own. I've never understood anything about it.
It does take some time. First time I went to a casino I went with a friend, his parents, and another friend or two. My friend's dad was explaining craps to the rest of us. We all just stood there for about 10 minutes trying to watch before they jumped in, and I took another 10 or so. Honestly, its really something you have to watch for a while to see how everything plays out. If you try to explain it, its impossible. If you look at it in action, see what people are betting on, and when they get paid for it, it makes more sense. The table is also complex if you take the whole thing in at once. Best way to do it is to focus on the tiny area right in front of where you stand. Once you understand the pass line, you know most of what you need. After that its just betting on specific numbers coming up. I personally avoid that for the most part, but others get really into it. To each their own.

I had a friend contemplating it the other night, but didn't want to be THAT GUY. Of course its going to hit eventually. And you'll profit if it comes up before a point is hit. But to me its just not worth it. I HATE that guy that does that, as does everyone. I had 3 people playing the don't pass at once the other day. One of them was rolling and cheering for it. What an ass.
Just reading that one sentence is starting to make me confused. I know the game very well, but a little additional statistical knowledge won't hurt me. For the most part, I play table minimum on the pass and put most of my money on the odds behind it. Don't play numbers anymore, stay away from everything in the middle of the table almost at all times. If I'm sitting with a dollar chip or two, maybe I'll throw one on a hardway just for the hell of it, but otherwise, I stick to my simple system.

The two best bets in the house (ignoring don't pass) are pass line + maximum odds behind, and then playing the come bet and again backing with max odds. It puts a ton of money on the table at the smallest house edge.
Just place 6 and place 8 are equal odds to that (and therefore a better use than the come if the house won't give you 5x) but I don't like them as much.
I'll play hardways to tip the dealers, and I'll play a Yo if there are 11 people on the table (cuz it's hilarious when it connects), but those aren't with a ton of money.
I usually play on a $10 minimum table with 5x odds, so I can max out with $360 on the table at a time, not counting the other smaller bets.

The hardways can be funny when they hit, especially if its the point number. I think it was a hard 4 that came up. I was with 3 friends on my side of the table. The stick person points and calls out what to pay "$70... $35...$35..." then points to me "...$7" Felt like a tool in comparison, but I'm much better off, considering all the times they threw in for hardways and didn't hit.
Unfortunately for me, I don't have the kind of money to do all of that with bets. On a $5 table, I could do the pass line with 5x odds, although I generally tend to only put $20 back there. In reality, that $5 shouldn't be the difference for me and I should probably go up to 5x. At a $10 table I generally keep it the same odds bet of $20. If I'm up a good amount (as I was the other day), maybe I should go up to 3x. Just not easy when you really can't afford to go all out with it. I tend to buy in for $100 at a table (and if I lose it, buying in for at most another $100). To throw down $60 right off the bat is dangerous at a $10 table.
Oh absolutely. To play the way I do, I usually buy in for 800-1k, and then have to be ready to double down for the same amount if I lose it all.
I've never actually left a gambling trip down money (from craps), though, so I'm due for some regression at some point I think.
I haven't kept track, but I would be willing to bet I'm way over .500 in terms of profiting from craps. Definitely made money more often than I've lost, and if I had to talk cumulative money, I'm definitely up a lot as well. I've had some losses recently, but anytime I've left with money, it has been far greater quantities than I used to. You have to get some luck for your bets/points to hit, but I stay much more controlled than I used to, and tend to do so much better than in the past. And its a lot of fun when I can buy in for $100 and leave the table with about $700. Had that kind of luck two of the last three casino trips I've had.

I'll have to try it next time I'm home. Anything that I should definitely get?
Also interested. Now that I see the closest is either 10-15 from home, or very nearby for whenever I'm in the Montclair/Clifton region (which is often enough), I can see me going sometime in the near future.

I bought my motorcycle with craps winnings. Left AC last time up 3k+ on craps, dropped maybe 1k on the room, food, and playing pai gow to relax, spent the rest on the bike.

Left Vegas last time up maybe 800.
That's the way I look at it on these trips where I make a huge return (percentage wise). Bought my new Larsson jersey with the winnings from a few weeks ago. Going to Orlando with a friend next week, so I think I'll apply the winnings from this weekend to my share of this trip. Thanks to the two casino runs, my trip is now paid for.
