Since returning from a broken foot on Dec. 11, Bobby Sanguinetti has 29 points in 33 games. Had 3 points yesterday.
He's tied for 7th in defensemen scoring in the league, despite that injury and playing fewer games than everyone in the top 13. He has more points per game for the Checkers than Dalpe, Bowman, Sutter and Nash, and as many as Boychuk.
"NHL.com lists us as 'in contention' for the playoffs, so we still have a chance!"
"Did you notice that every team is listed as 'in contention'?"
"Yeah, that's weird. Montreal and the Islanders don't stand a chance."
If he is as clueless defensively as those who watch him say he is, then I just don't see him fitting anywhere without a trade of Pitkanen/McBain/Faulk. The former and the latter wouldn't be moved, IMO. So that would leave the perpetually on the block McBain, who's quietly having a nice year.
I don't know. We just don't need another guy who gets lost in his own zone, do we? Unless Lewis can work magic, something has to give in terms of roster spots.

Would you rather Joslin slot into that spot? Because as long as we're talking about "clueless" defensemen, I'll take the athletic scoring one over the big dumb and slow one.
I am interested to see how far he has come in his own end. He is a far better skater than most guys on the roster. I have hard time believing it will go too well being paired with mcbain but I'll go into it with an open mind
I think there is a very good chance. I think Rutherford has liked the way we've been playing and I think his decision to sign Ruutu and Gleason was based on that. I think he will get forward help this offseason and anyone not part of the current chemistry is in the mix.

Oh no, not at all. I just feel like if Allen leaves and Sanguinetti takes his spot, that leaves a pretty big defensive hole on the blue line.

Agreed. But, in evaluating this callup, right now, at this moment in time, I couldn't be happier. We'll figure out personnel in the offseason, when it makes the most sense to do so. But in the last 15 or so games of a throwaway season, I want to see what assets we have, how valuable they are, and what they can bring to the team next year.
Bobby Sanguinetti got called up today. That's a good thing.
He wasn't recalled on emergency basis so I would bet he is here to stay.
10 games played and he hits waiver status. Canes have 13 games left. I'm not sure he'll get more than the 10 games, they'll need him for the playoffs in Charlotte and not sure they want to risk putting him on waivers.
Meh..give it a number games before making an assessment. This is 1 game with a partner he never played with, against the best team in the East, against a team that drafted and traded him, in MSG, etc. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he didn't get any sleep the night before and if his head wasn't spinning.
I'm not saying he looked good by any means, but I'll wait for a number of games before making an assessment. Look at Faulk's first few games this year. Look at Harrison's first 30+ games with Carolina, etc..

Decent points here. I was just about to say look how Faulk played at the beginning of the year
