MacDonald has back spasms, Pearce recalled from GR

Per MLive:

"ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Detroit Red Wings goaltender Joey MacDonald experienced some back spasms following Wednesday's 4-0 loss to the Anaheim Ducks, prompting the club to recall Jordan Pearce from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
General manager Ken Holland said MacDonald will stay with the team but Pearce will dress as Jimmy Howard's backup Saturday in San Jose.
"It appears to be (day-to-day),'' Holland said. "Hopefully, he'll get better by Monday. If not, we'll be home and have it looked it.''
Pearce is 3-7-1, with a 3.53 goals-against average and .874 save percentage, for the Griffins."

Just play a sixth skater instead of Pearce if it comes down to it.

They sure are trying to help the Griffins make the playoffs, Conklin has played well down there and is the obvious call up over Pearce.

Conklin has to clear re-entry waivers to be called back up.

Given his improved play in Grand Rapids we'd likely end up paying half his salary to play somewhere else

This actually scared me before I came onto HF. I saw it on FB and thought "S***, Howard had another set back". Yeah, not really looking forward to seeing Pearce in net if something happens to Howard now...

Hopefully it's nothing serious for MacDonald. He's done his job as far as giving Jimmy a rest. It would be nice if he could start a few more games before the playoffs start but at this point Howard should be fully rested and capable of carrying the load going forward.

HA!

4th String Goalie power...

Better hope no freak injury happens to Howard by Saturday....

The way these injuries are happening reminds me of the Simpsons Baseball Episode....

Word is that Brad Stuart's kids were skating with the Wings this morning, I wonder if either of them can play goalie?

I prefer ex-goalie Ken Holland to dress up.

There was a video posted on Facebook today showing his kids playing...
I really don't think they'd make the cut, and both seem to play forward...
