Well, wouldn't there NOT be horizontal polka at 6 and 11?

Clearly some people are not in the right relationship...

Personally, it was the arrival of the kidlets that accompanied the reduction in the dance known as the horizontal polka.

And now that we are done with having kidlets, I don't even have those few months of attempting to make a kidlet to enjoy.

My personal experience says Marriage is a really bad idea from a male perspective.

I've had 2 ex-girlfriends get married in the last year, and each of them has hit me up for hook ups since. Not "hey let's hang out", extremely straight to the point "come pick me up".

My friend has experienced similar results. We break up, hear nothing, they get married, and it's on.

No wonder marriage results in less "intimacy" between couples.

I think that's an overgeneralization to be totally honest. If these women come back around for some nookie inside the first year, they weren't ready to get married in the first place.

Bolded on "my personal experience", lack of "all women are like this".

My age group (19-24) should also be taken into account.

I can't wait to never watch the latest Depp / Burton flick based on pre-existing material.

At least it isn't another twisted take on children's material shtick again.

Again, I sense a few people are not in the right relationship.

Or aren't doing something right.....

I think a big problem with marriages these days is that people just aren't ready to be married when they are 18-25 years old. Sadly, lots of young adults are pressured into marriage by their parents, oftentimes for religious purposes.

For the vast majority of people, they just aren't ready for marriage before their late 20's IMO. Are their expections? Absolutely.

My first real serious relationship lasted for about 18 months. Then her parents tried to pressure me into marriage. An ultimatem was given and I bailed. Since then she's been married three times and come to me every single time.

Is she a bad person? No, she's an angel. Is she ready for marriage? No, clearly she isn't. Do I blame her? Not one bit.

I myself am not even considering marriage/children before I am 30. My career comes first, only when I can comfortably provide for a family. Even then, I'm a independent, introverted, secular guy and the only benefit I see to marriage is tax breaks

I have to admit that my marriage probably shouldn't have happened.

If it didn't start as a long distance thing, we would have tired of each other quickly. I wasn't ready for living with someone, and I kind of acted like it admittedly. Young and dumb mistakes were made on both sides.

But without it, my son wouldn't be here. So I still wouldn't trade any of it to start all over 6 years ago.

My mom says the same thing. She got married young, had me and then my brother within 2 years and divorced soon after. Although she knows she shouldn't have married my dad, she said her two most favorite things came from it, so she's okay with her decision.

It's sunny and seventies in Buffalo too?!

We'll certainly be taking a lengthy, leisurely stroll through Central Park before dinner tonight.

I got married at 18 and I tell people all the time that we are the exception to the rule, not the normal. We'll be married 11 years later this year. I took a lot of hard work to get through our first few years. Though that had more to do with both of us being on our own for the first time than actual relationship issues.

I think now a days it has more to do with young people thinking that the first 6 months - 1 year time frame when the feel so "in love" and don't have any issues will be how the whole relationship will go so they jump in head first into marriage and living together and just aren't ready for it. I think too many people (both genders) just don't realize what love is. They mistake attraction/affection/puppy love for true long last love.

As for the whole "sowing oats" in "someone else's field" issue. I've had more than 1 "offer" from various females (more so in the first few years me and my wife were together than recently) and have left everyone hanging.*
Not only because I didn't want to have to live with the guilt/trying to hide it but I knew how hard it would crush my wife if it did happen. Neither of those things are something I was willing to do/risk. And that right there is why I think it happens more and more these days... people just don't think of what toll it will take on both them and their partners and they just live in the moment.**

*Not in any way/shape/form saying I'm the perfect guy, cause I'm far from it, just stating the fact that I haven't taken any offers that have come my way
**The above being said, I've been tempted to "live in the moment" a time or two but better judgement/thought process have prevailed

Because having it be 9PM but breakfast time in some parts of the world would be weird. Now Daylight Savings...that's absurd.

That's what happens when you have a real OT owner who keeps things fresh.
