So I added the Wheel of Time and Song of Ice and Fire series to my Kindle Book wish list...big mistake. Amazon instantly recommended nearly 200 more books. Since this triggers my selective OCD, I spent the next three hours reading into most of them and whittled the recommendations down to about 25. I mean, I want to be recommended new CD's, not a bajillion fantasy books of various sorts
Half the books seem to be The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind and another five are The Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson. Are these good series to read? And yes to the person who recommended Abercrombie's First Law trilogy, those were recommended and I'll check 'em out at some point, haha.
I'm pretty sure next season is going to be the last one. I think the cast wants to move on--especially Segal and NPH.
Which means the show is going to be rushed to its ending. This previous season had already taken a huge spiral downward, so it will be interesting to see what kind of reaction people will have to the last season.
The kids are definitely teenagers in 2030 per the opening scenes. Ted is currently 34 in 2012. So even if the daughter is 15, he had her in 2015. That means in the next three years, he needs to meet the mom, get engaged, get married and have a baby. That is if they follow the traditional timeline. Maybe he meets her, does the deed the night they meet, gets her knocked up and then gets married. Who knows. Hahahaha...
My son's youth hockey season is so time consuming.
But, when the season comes to an end, like it did on Sunday, I'm usually melancholy. I'm going to miss it.
Although, the gap between now and the start of soccer season will be nice.
Our league plays until 2nd weekend of April - with any luck, we'll be playing too. Our town does tryouts for Peewee week after next (for next year) as they like the kids 'at their peak'. Unfortunately, my son wont find out until August what team he makes (1,2 or 3). He's worked so hard this season - hoping he gets what he wants.
Baseball tryouts are Saturday - I hate baseball and my son is lukewarm about it: but I can't get him to play any running games... lax, soccer, etc.

We do spring evals, as well.
And we don't find out about team placement until late July/early August usually. It always annoys the parents and reduces the ability to fundraise during the summer when things like car washes are easier to do.
I don't really get why they don't tell people sooner.....
Sorry Cuse fans, Fab Melo suspended for the tournament due to eligibility issue. Makes you wonder if he ever should have been allowed to come back after his first ineligibility.

My son's team made the playoffs and lost 1-0. They play one more this Sunday. In his words "We did our best, Dad, and held them to 1."

And my bracket just got shook up. Went from picking the Cuse to win it all to losing to Vandy in the sweet 16.

For us, it's because of timing for elite and select leagues. They want those kids in the town programs, and since they try out for a number of teams, the town waits until after those teams are formed. Then they aren't moving kids around.

We have '1 and done'. No consolation game. Knock on wood, we actually have a shot I think. We have a kid on our team that scores 6 goals a game and a goalie that belongs in select.
some update about the nutcase:
last saturday night/sunday morning
she send me a text saying she sits all alone at the train station, I ask her why?
she answers me with I'll tell you tomorrow. also she told me she's so sorry about everything.

We have to put sizable deposits down at the time of evals, so kids don't usually get moved around too much.
IIRC, they have travel tryouts before house tryouts so you can tryout for travel and if you don't make it, then you play house.

I really need to stop being nice and everything.
It's not about not being nice anymore in general. Just need to leave behind sucky people like that. I've done it...totally worth it in the end.

The team they lost to has the select goalie on it -- the kid has been to four or five goalie camps already and he's 7. Granted, the team they play in the consulation prize was, IMO, the best team from top to bottom in their league. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Wrote two papers from 4-7 am a couple of weeks ago, busting out 10 pages or so in 3 hours. Ended up getting an A on one and a D on the other. Go figure.
Ugh...got 2 papers to finish for tomorrow and another due friday. blah. motivation Y U NO ENTER MY LIFE??? but on the plus side, i'll have almost nothing to do this weekend, and the weather's supposed to be good for the majority of this week/weekend
