Reminds me of this, but just with the roles reversed.

JB had a nice article some weeks ago talking to MacIntyre about his background and career. Big Mac sounded very much like he knows this is his final season.

Big Mac looked like a complete jackass. There's no need for this in the game of Hockey.
Again, I'm not saying what he did was a shining light on hockey, but by the descriptions and reactions earlier in the thread, I simply envisioned something much, much worse than what he actually did (ie. Jeff Kugel incident, Todd Bertuzzi/Moore incident, Mike Milbury hitting a fan with a shoe incident, etc.).

Yeah... huge overreaction from this board. This is par for the course in the AHL

I remember him laying a beating on Dylan McKay once.

Seriously.

My guess is he'll get 6 games (that puts him out through the next Springfield game) and that's that.

Yeah I don't see him getting anything all that crazy. Six games seems fair. It was stupid, but not as bad as some are making it out to be. Oh, and ggies is still being ridiculous.

From the article: "The circumstances surrounding MacIntyre's encounter with Dainton began in the second period when Springfield's Greg Amadio, a rugged defenseman, fought winger Geoff Walker, one of the Penguins' top goal scorers.

Later in the period, Penguins heavyweight Steve MacIntyre confronted Amadio and cross-checked him, but Amadio was apparently unwilling to fight. In the scrum that followed, MacIntyre pulled off Dainton's mask and punched him in the head a few times."

Not getting into the 'need for enforcers' battle, but if you're going to have one, isn't this how fans want him to react in this situation? If their fighter is going after a scorer and then refuses to match up with the fighter when asked to dance, well, if I am that goalie I know at whom I am pissed.

The article fails to mention Dainton was chirping at MacIntyre for going after Amadio. I hate to say he had it coming....but....

Haha, he got 60+ penalty minutes on that "shift."

A different announcer makes all the difference. While I don't condone him hitting the goalie, the announcer's description of Amadio is priceless. Not my video, I just came across it..

It's not like Geoff Walker is a saint either. He can hold his own. He has 200 PIMS in the last season and a half.

what a nut job Billy was.

I saw him cause a hip injury on Mario during an exhibition game. Was baby pens vs. big pens, mario skating with WBS. Billy checked him into the boards, bright thing to do to the guy signing your checks during an exhibition game....

I have to believe he just wants them in his pocket since he ices Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Its not like we've seen Big Mac just rotting away in the press box now that these enforcers are being ushered out, being replaced by guys like Engo and Asham. I doubt he goes for another Big Mac/Godard/Laraque this offseason.

Tom Grace is one of the best PBP hockey guys in the business. I'd pay an extra $50 a year for Rootsports if they gave him Steigerwald's job. Unfortunately, they seem inclined to replace Steiggy with Steve Mears, who is not only lame and boring, but hasn't the faintest clue what he's doing as either a broadcaster or hockey observer. May as well give Errey's job to Cassie Campbell while they're at it.
