Kessel steamed about losing

"I don't care if I score or get points, we don't win," he stated in some frustration. "It doesn't matter. What do you play the game for? You play to win the game. You play to win and have fun and right now nothing's happening for us."

http://www.tsn.ca/toronto/blogs/jonas_siegel/?id=390185

for people who doesn't think he plays with heart

He said that at the start of the season too..he doesn't give a **** about the distractions and if he gets 20 goals or 30 goals etc, all he wants is wins and sadly the team didn't shore up defensively to make the playoffs.

I remember I yawned at work yesterday, which pretty much meant I didn't want the company to succeed.

What would you expect him to say during an interview....I really do not mind losing as I get to start my vacation that much sooner.

I did not read in the article were he took any responsibility for the way that the team is playing currently.

Kessel is one of the few players who's work ethic I don't question. The dude really cares and tries hard, every shift he's totally gassed on the bench after. I can't blame him for his frustration from coming from a Cup contending team to a bottom feeder and not making the playoffs for three seasons in a row now.

Also, he should be one of the last to blame for the team's recent struggles. He's still been trying hard and making offense, him and Lupul carried the forwards.

I remember when I yawned in my thermodynamics exam..which pretty much meant I failed my exam..

BUT WAIT, I didn't, I got 90.

It's so funny how people pick Kessel apart when the team is losing. It's a team sport...they sucked collectively.

Maybe because it's not his fault? The entire team sucks right now. He mentioned that the whole team has been bad, which encompasses him.

Yeah in tough times let's criticize the player who pretty much carried our offence all year.

I saw how much he cared when he waived his stick as Chara walked by him . I see how much he cares when he turns away every freakin time someone comes within 3 feet of him .

The guys a hell of talented player and he's had a great year stats wise but i don't know if there's a softer player in the league . His soft play is killing that line defensivly and he doesn't seem to give a crap .

people think cause he doesn't back check hard or lay hits like a power forward that he's lazy.. he gives it his all in the offensive zone. Lupul and bozak did a great job of taking care of the defensive work.. and the line worked amazing. Lupul would not of had the year he had if its werent for kessel and vice versa.

Right now.. best thing for kessels line would be kulemin.

No. Kessel did. Lupul rode Kessel's coattails.

Little things win hockey games....when you go for a skate after you shot the puck at the goalie ....and the puck is heading towards your net and you are seen taking the long route back ...like behind the oppositions net...what is a fan left to think.

When the puck gets sent up the wall and you skate out to the point with your body on the D -mans body giving them a clear lane to shoot the puck....what does that tell you. He goes out to the point making him self skinny hoping the puck does not hit him. He does not engage in puck battles unless you call fishing with your stick getting involved in a puck battle. He almost always is on the Offensive side of the puck and not on the defensive side of the puck when there is a puck battle.

I know we did not trade for Kessel to be a physical force, but going for a skate when the puck is heading south towards your goal and coasting back is not going to endear you to the fans.

This.

Honestly I like Kessel and his work ethic overall but he refused to change in Boston when he was asked to play defense for a team that had a chance to win it all and I have not seen a SINGLE difference since Carlyle took over from Kessel. I also didn't like him bailing out of the post game interviews when they asked for him last game.

I would be disappointed if he doesn't change his ways but he is one of the few that gives it his all every game (offensively that is). He is what he is basically, I doubt Carlyle or anyone will change him.

Are there any Leaf players not steamed about losing?

If so then they shouldn't be playing for the Leafs any more.

No surprise Kessel is steamed about how this has gone. They went from a playoff team to almost in the bottom 5. I don't have a problem with his work ethic out there. He's one of the few guys (besides Lupul and Grabo) who carry the offence and he has tried to get back. He's not a very good defensive player, but considering how this failure has been collective he's not someone I'm going to criticize.

Yup.. this one i will never forget... All the late runs the leafs made when the odd's were impossible.. Now this year when they came down the home stretch in 8th when it mattered.. they couldn't even string together 3 wins in the last 16 games..

****ing embarrassment
