If were at the podium and Dumba and Murray are still on the board, who do you want?
For me it's Dumba, the guy has elite offensive prowess and can dish out huge hits. He has great character (which Garth loves), and is a superb skater. Not that Murray doesn't have these skills but Dumba seems like a player I would rather have on my team or in my locker room if I was a coach or GM.
Ryan Suter or Dion Phaneuf. That's what I see this choice coming down to. Dumba's got a physical edge and a higher offensive ceiling, but I think Murray's more likely to be the guy you can play against the other team's top line and contribute a decent number of points as well.

I give the edge to Murray over Dumba because Dumba is gonna need a couple years, I'm 80% sure if we pick Murray he's gonna be in the NHL his first year. And unlike Josh Bailey, I think Murray is ready to handle top-4 NHL minutes, and can immediately help this team.
Its tough to call...Dumba seems like such an Islanders type but people say Murray will be a True top Pairing dman....
I take Dumba...
I think we will be going offense unless were not in the top 2 or 3 picks..... We need defense but Grigorenko is going to be a game changer...I wish we had 2 top 5 picks...
He adds a few more pounds and he could be a very physical 2 way dman.....
Having him and the Hammer for the next decade would be crazy...
If for some reason Murray or even more far-fetched, both Dumba and Murray are there when the Islanders pick -- they should count their blessings.
As we inch towards draft day, Dumba is rising. I am now beginning to think he may not fall passed the Oilers. If that ends up being the case, the Islanders better hope Montreal/Carolina/whomever pass on Murray for Grigorenko and they have a shot at the young blueliner. Murray is what the Islanders need and I think Garth would actually go for him as he plays a similar game to Pietrangelo. I really doubt he falls far enough, however, for the Islanders to have a shot at him. I could be wrong, of course.

The 2 russians are definetly going before murray. The islanders will probably be choosing top 5. I cant see dumba and murray gone at that time. Where do you think the islanders pick will be located?
I take Murray, although I was all for Dumba first. While I'd love a second mean piece to the blueline, by the time DUmba gets here, there could be two other less-offensively gifted-yet-physically-capable defensemen pushing for the roster in Mayfield and Pedan. The more I read, the more the common expectation for Dumba to require a year or two of grooming jumps at me. As much as I don't want to see the Isles ruin such a solid d-man prospect in Murray, he's an overager, and by many accounts could be capable of jumping right into the NHL. This does NOT suggest I want him to - there's still a lack of a better mentor on the blueline than Streit, who at times this season has occasionally looked like he may do well to get mentored a bit himself. Murray simply seems like the harder prospect to ruin of the two.
If the Phaneuf/Suter comparison is as apt as it seems, I'd take Suter at this juncture. While it remains to be seen, I feel like Pedan could work out like Kasparaitis (duh, Lithuania) and Mayfield a little like a McCabe, taking his shot into consideration. Both could someday serve as the grittier anchor for a more 'all-situations' d-man. That's not even counting 'Ham Solo.'
Funny, I'm less concerned about drafting D than I am about the NYI forward group in the offseason.
Griffin Reinhart is a 6'4 smooth skating, offensive minded Dman who may enter the equation before all is said and done.
I think this draft will have the least amount of difference as per value throughout the top 10 slots than any other recent drafts..... in other words, grabbing Reinhart/Trouba at 7 or 8 may not end up any worse off than Murray/Dumba at 3 or 4.... we will be fine.

Pretty spot on except I thought Dumba has more hockey sense than Phaneuf
Murray has that "Scott (NoChance) Lachance " vibe to him .... While Dumba seems more like a Kasper with an insane offensive skill set .... Grigorenko reminds me of Victor Kozlov ( pass ) ...while Galchenyuk is soooo Hossa -esque ...

As it stands now, they would end up having the 4th overall pick, same as last year minus lottery results. I see Edmonton taking Dumba and Montreal taking Grigorenko. So that would leave Murray and Forsberg to choose from. I think Murray is the smart pick, but Forsberg is the Snow pick. So who knows.

Forsberg or Trouba? could you give us some insight.
