Inglewood rounds out the roster with a jack-of-all-trades type defenseman. He's big, moves well enough, has a big shot, plays a physical game, is a good leader and team mate, and has logged 20+ minutes pretty consistently since coming into the league in 1998. The #1 defenseman on Tampa's championship team in 2004, playing a fantastic shut-down role the whole way through. Legendary Philadelphia Flyer:

Pavel Kubina

Assuming Billy is skipped I have Arcand's list pick here. With Pick 772 Hartford selects Assistant Coach Dave Tippett.

Mike Richards

Bring Back Scuderi has been PMed
Good pick, I had him right on par with Meagher but had he been off the board he would have been my selection last round.

All right I'm going to finish off my team with Fred Lake, W/D. Good, multi-positional spare who provides toughness, a little scoring touch, and solid D. Here is "The Sabre's" bio from last year. http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...&postcount=899

All jokes aside about his name, VI really did a great job with this one.

PMing VCl and Hedberg now.

EDIT: If LF doesn't come in and make a pick he will be skipped at 3:18am EST, and that is when I will be up.

Can anyone take Velociraptor's list as well? It's been left with me and I'm getting off here at 2.

I'm surprised this guy is still available, I thought he was underrated when I picked him last year. Even though I already took a spare center in Broten, this guy was mainly a center, but I've found a few quotes indicating that he played all forward positions, as well as defense in a pinch. The recently uncovered all star voting also indicates that he has versatility. What else could you want from a spare? How about being a great two way player, leading the league in goals, and 3 top 7 point finishes? C Bill Thoms

I'll get to my other pick tomorrow because I actually have to think about that one.

His picture looks like Billy Bob Thornton and how can BBS pick his #6 Dman at pick 768 in an 800 pick draft?

Okay well good work by seventies in that case haha.

I passed along Velociraptor's and Hawkey Town's lists to Dreakmur, who goes directly after them. Their collective clocks won't run out until 3:18 PM, so I think we'll be good doing that

That is somewhat misleading. Dan Boyle was Tampa's clear #1 defenseman in the 2003-04 regular season, but ended up having his ES icetime reduced in the playoffs because he had to play through a fairly serious injury and lost his normal ES partner (Lukowich) partway through. That Tampa Cup team was very much defense by committee, with the TOI leaders being a couple of forwards - Richards and St. Louis - which is highly unusual, especially for a Cup winner.

Kubina was definitely Tampa's #1 at even strength, though, if that's what you meant.

I meant that he was their best (and most heavily used) defenseman throughout the 2004 playoffs, and he did a great job of it. I think we had the same discussion last year when Vecens and I took him .

I don't think either Kubina or Boyle were a "true" #1 at that point. Boyle certainly wasn't as well rounded as he became later on, while Kubina was probably playing the best hockey of his life but didn't have the offensive game to be a centrepiece on the blueline. But if you had to call someone their #1 defenseman for that Stanley Cup run, it's Pavel Kubina. I recall him being their most valuable D in those playoffs, particularly in the finals where he played injured. He played the most, and he got the key matchups (Iginla in the finals, for instance). His pairing was fantastic in the shut-down role Tortorella used them in.

Now that I think about it, both my defensive spares (Regehr and Kubina) were basically mirroring each other those finals.

For one of my skipped picks i'll pick F/D Fred Lake

Does it matter if I pick an assistant coach or not?

Lake was selected already.

Pick an assistant if you think he actually adds something to the team.
