Key word there: was.

I don't care who you are: if you have 7 goals in 68 games, you don't belong in the top 6.

"Top 6" is top 6.

When you've played more than half the season with Mitchell, Prust, Boyle, you aren't going too have earth shattering numbers. He hasn't been used on the power play much, the fact is he is a better fit for that spot than anyone else right now. What makes a roster click matters more than positional classification on hf.

And why has he played with Johnny, Boyle, and Prust? Because he put himself in that position, to be taken out of the top 6. Hagelin came in here and started on a line with Boyle and Mitchell. Look where he is now.

Richards was garbage for a month, and never got stuck with 4th line players for significant periods of time.

He is logging 4 minutes a game on the PP, more than double what Dubinsky has and far and away more than anyone on the NYR roster. Now if he was playign with Rupp and Scott right now, I don't think he'd be putting up great numbers and on his way to recovering his season and working his way back up the roster.

So in terms of accountability and line time being a function of production and quality of play, I'm not necessarily buying it 100%.

Oh come on. IIRC, the game that Richards was put on the fourth line, he scored the OT goal vs Tampa, then went on a bit of a hot streak.

Torts doesn't have problems with Dubi, as he obviously had much more ice time last year when he was producing. MZA, who Torts supposedly hates, played more minutes last night than Dubinsky. I'm waiting for him to get going....so far, it's not working.

There are many reasons why Dubi's line mates are named Rupp, Boyle, Prust. Playing good is not one of em.

The alternative for TV2 is to have zero reporters covering him.

And it's not amateurish either, she does her job, getting info on Zuccarello for the general norwegian public, a market that wouldn't care if Richards scored 20 goals in a match.

I think I would have liked a third line of Dubinsky - Mitchell - Zuccarello. Might held Dubinsky find his game, and it's solidly defensivly. And both Mitchell and Dubinsky knows how to recive a pass, making Zuccarello more effective. That would leave us with three potentially good scoring lines, and a very good fourth line that also can log a good share of minutes and provide some seconday scoring.

This time of the year, TOI should be distributed more evenly as long as you can, to preserv the players for the playoffs.

I generally agree with you, but to be fair, Richards has a track record of consistency at a very high level that Dubinsky does not.

Is Dubi a top 6 player? - Yes.
Has he been playing like a top 6 player this season? - No.
Should Torts continue to try finding a way for Dubinsky to get back to playing like a top 6 player again? - Hell, yeah.

I really think that Torts is going to try to reunite the Pack line. He has not done it previously (except for a very short period early in the season) because during different part of of the season either Anisimov was doing well at LW or Richards-Cally connection was working. Now however, it's time to try it again - Stepan has been in a little slump lately and it might be better for him to join with Zuke once Cally returns, at least for a little while.

I don't understand the big deal of having a norwegian reporter asking questions about zuccarello (a norwegian). Are all the questions from the reporter about zuccarello? yes, but it must be a pretty big deal over in Norway and a lot of ppl following his career. That is great, that he has a whole country behind him in support of his NHL career!

I also think that zucc has a great chance to stick with the club this time around. It is very apparent that he has worked on his weaknesses and improved upon them. Tortorella really speaks highly of zucc and like his creativity and passing that does not exist on this team without zucc, so I think you will see him back here next year, but right now it could go either way...however i think if he continues to perform well the rest of this season and into the playoffs i think it is a sure thing that he will be back because you also have to consider feds, scott are gone after this season and some others im sure.
