One of my favourite memories as a kid : On a Saturday night (we weren't lucky enough to have dates), me and 3 friends playing Euchre while watching (a bench clearing brawl between) the Canadiens-Nordique during a playoff game.
That was a long time ago and my memories have faded so please don't quote me as to its accuracy - I am worried someone will post that the big fight never happened. I also have memories of me getting “lucky” a LOT in high school and God knows that did NOT happen.

Renaud Lavoie (who is known for his support of Seattle getting a franchise, and one of the analysts that always said Seattle was ahead of QC) just said that according to his sources, the NHL does NOT want to play in Key Arena for even ONE season.
Now... if you could just find the YouTube videos of me getting "lucky" in the back seat of my Honda Civic during high school dances. I was the one with the blond mullet.
A Renaud 5 on La voie (the road) ... oh boy, need to take some rest.
Yeehaw... thats the one. Only mine was yellow with black fliptop roof & "Le Car" in huge letters on the doors. Real Pet Shop Boys number if you know what I mean. Didnt catch fire though. That came later with one of my Audi's.

Seattle's done, according to him.
So he's finally on the same page as pretty much everyone else that took a look at the situation.

Indeed. There is no doubt in many minds that the NHL would prefer Seattle over Quebec City by a country mile but the timing and logistics are far too problematic there. With recent announcements confirming arrangements for the temporary upgrade of Le Colisee and a site+start date for the new arena, the only way I see Quebec not getting a team is if the NHL punts the ball down the road another year (because CoG coughs up another $20-25 million), after which the Seattle (or Kansas City) situation could fundamentally become more viable.

You are right, Seattle will better option in 1 or 2 years if the new arena project is starting. However the Key Arena won't be more viable in 1 year. The only hope for Seattle is the Tacoma Dome...
Kansas City will be a possibility when a potential owner will show up
I posted this in the wrong topic I think.. Here's some fresh news from Quebec this morning:
The tradition of playing a pre-season habs game in Quebec City every year seems to have come to an end.
According to CHOI-FM, who are sponsors of that yearly event, they were supposed to play again this year.
Last week, the Canadiens were asking for a promo plan from them. But just now, the Canadiens told them it is now on hold and to wait for future developments.

Perhaps that could be a sign of the Coyotes in QC next year, but also, it could be only because of the pending lockout (as to why there's no pre season Habs game).

Well duh. Uncertainty regarding whether QC will have a team next season = uncertainty regarding whether the Habs will play a preseason game in QC next year. That quote can mean they know something but it can mean they know nothing at all.
As for Gauthier, the writing was on the wall. Molson only waited for the Habs to be officially eliminated (which happened last week?) to make the move. Now he/Serge Savard has some time to find a new GM and in turn that new guy will have enough time to get in place before the draft.

Well, the fact that the Canadiens organization take important steps like stopping the process of holding a pre-season game in Quebec (that was planned for a while) can be interpreted as a sign that it is more and more serious of a possibility for 2012.
Usually those tickets sell in a few hours tops and are available at around this time of the year.
