Should've started by now or well into round 2 for some folks out there. Just wondering how everyone's doing? We're tied 1-1 in the semi-finals in a best of 3 series right now. Been a tough one because their ringers are showing up now.
Pretty sure we're out of the playoffs this year for the first time. We got moved up this year as a team, so facing tougher teams every night and only one or two "cake" teams.
07-08: lost finals
08-09: lost finals
09-10: lost finals
10-11: lost semi-finals
11-12: miss playoffs
I had a nice year so far, 18gp 18g 6a 24pts 6pim +13. Lead my team in points and so far lead the division in goals.
Probably gonna get moved up again next year, which kinda sucks because I've been playing with these guys for 5 years. And part of me worries that this year is a fluke and next year I don't score at all at a higher level. But I know part of it is adjusting my shot and my game and part is the weightlifting, so hopefully I can keep it up.
We still have 4-5 more games left before playoffs start. Ours usually start in early April. We're in 6th out of 12 on one of my teams and 2nd out of 10 teams in the other division.
We have our 2nd game of round 1 tonight (best of 3, and the finals are best of 5). We won the first game 4-1, with two disallowed goals (quick whistle and foot in crease). We're the 5th seed taking on the 4th and if we keep playing like we did in the first game, we have a good shot at being repeat champs!
Starts next week, lose and go home. The following week if you win, you play later that night for the championship. We ended at .500, the same as we did last season when we won the championship. Hoping for a repeat as we've not lost a championship at this rink for an entire year and keep bumping up divisions. We have our core but our complimentary players are what make or break our game. Thankfully for the playoffs we get the right mix and can kick it up.
Win or lose though I think this is our last season (at least for a while) at this rink and we'll primarily play in the higher division at the other local rink. We won that one last season too. I prefer it because the higher competition makes us play in a more preferable way (honestly who doesn't like to push themselves?) and there are a lot less dickheads making up the higher-level teams there.
He's pretty awesome and I'm jealous of the beard. Loved the last episode I watched where he had an "I'm Steve McKenna" shirt on with that logo, and of course he was wearing the hat and glasses. Brilliant!
We just made it out of the first round with 4-1 and 3-1 wins. We're on to round 2 next week playing a team that we beat 10-4, 8-7, and 4-1 during the regular season.

Yeah it's funny how a solid beard just makes you that much funnier. I have beard envy as well.

I grew my playoff beard too early this season. Had a full Martin Havlat look going on, but it got to itching one day and off it came. About time to put it back on just in time for the playoffs.

Our league does a 6-team round robin to determine the four semi-finalists.
We came 5th out of 12 teams in out league, and despite what was voted the league's worst defense, my team had the third lowest goals against in the league!
I had a 2.32 GAA, placing me second in the league.
I've got the flu so I won't be starting our third playoff game tomorrow night, but I played real well in our first two games.
We won our first one 8-3 over the 6th place team, which was in all honesty a game we HAD to win. We somehow got outshot 27-22 but their goalie had an off night and I played pretty well.
In our second game, we played the 2nd seed, and lost 6-5. We got outshot 47-16.
I'm really hoping our call-up plays well tomorrow night, and if he does, we might just clinch a spot in the semi's. 2 points from our final 3 games will get us there.
I've also been scouted by two Jr. C teams, and I'll probably attend a camp next August.
Just won our championchip game 9-8 in a SO. I was playing one of my worst games of the season yet I was lucky enough to get the Game winner in shootout. Before the game to scrubs were chirping me that the toughest player was going to kill me and they made a body bag which was a garbage bag for me. They said our two top d-men were not going to come yet they did. One of them wanted to fight me. I said no and walked away. Hopefully this will be my last house game ever since I am moving up to play midget and I am wanting to play "A" level hockey.
