Any update on Sauer in the last month? (Sather: May not be back this year)

I've been looking all over the net to try and find some info on what's been going on with him, with the most recent being from the beginning of January saying he was working out again. Has anyone heard anything lately?

Jim Cerny said it's less and less likely he'll come back.

As in his career is already over or just being shut down for the season? And where'd you read that?

no one knows.....like to think career is fine but time will tell

I think we all hope he can return this yr. Would be just like a trade deadline move

perhaps the Ranges feel he has a shot ?

gotta figure it's a long shot for him to be back this season...unless perhaps we go deep into the playoffs. hopefully he heals over the summer and is ready to go for camp.

His career certainly isn't over.

It was reported a week or two ago that nothing had changed and he still isn't working out or skating. That being the case, it's increasingly unlikely that he'd be able to get back on the ice and in game shape in time for the playoffs.

If you put two and two together, the Rangers probably sent him to the doctor who shut down Staal for a month when his symptoms reappaered. This week would mark one month from the time when I spoke to a member of his family who told me he was skating and feeling much better. So given that, Sauer was probably shut down for a month and he's likely on schedule to be reexamined this week.

Stay tuned.

even if sauer can return this season i dont see him getting into the lineup, it would be the same deal as staal, after missing this much time you gotta believe hes pretty out of shape and come playoff time its going to be one hell of a grind. Really hope he is cleared and able to play but i dont see him playing again this season even if we go deep in the playoffs thats assuming he comes back real late, if he comes back next week or soon i can him being in game shape come playoffs.

Feel bad for Sauer for having to miss this great run we're having. I still give him full credit for teaching Del Zotto how to clear the crease.

I was disappointed with our lack of response toward Phaneuf in subsequent meetings with Leafs.

Expected, but still disappointing.

Hopefully he gets back to 100% for the start of camp in September.

Tough. That's bad news. I hope he just gets healthy. Hopefully the PCS is not too bad.

that hit was so bad. very dangerous hit and sauer should have had his helmet strapped up tighter. hitting your head against the glass without a helmet followed by falling down and cracking the back of your skull on the edge of the boards. i didn't like it then and i certainly don't now. first and foremost i hope sauer is the same person he was before the hit and continue to be (chris pronger horror stories). i don't think i have seen another player get a concussion the way he did.

As much as I would love to have Sauer back this season, I don't think he'd be able to get into game shape in time for the playoffs. Look how long it has taken Staal to round back into for and he still isn't even there year. Let Sauer rest up and get ready for next season.

If you go to the Phoenix board, you can find a story about the hell his brother is going through. No need to rush him back, hockey is secondary for Sauer.

Whenever he is ready to come back you wonder if he will take as long as Staal took to get back to the normal playing level.

But isn't that a neck injury that Kurt went through? This season, at least he has been able to make it to watch the games.

Well rest assured I think he will be available in the playoffs if someone important goes down. I just don't see him coming back if everyone stays healthy all the way through.
