How about neither? I would rather have Rick Nash or Malkin or Stamkos just to name a few of maybe a hundred players I would take over either of them. WTF? Why even mention Penner?

gagner is the worst top 2 centre in the entire NHL I dont give a crap how big he plays. he's on his butt more than he is on his skates and had two good games all year and guys like you all of a sudden think he's the answer.

It's nice that gagner has the drive, but he can't put it all together often enough for me to believe that he won't be passed over sooner rather than later either by a draft pick this year or someone in the system.

I would bet my house, no my life, that gagner is not an Edmonton Oiler opening day next year. Only a complete moron GM would go with two smurfs like RNH and Gagner as 1-2 centres. We need SOME size down the middle. Not to mention that gagner just plain isnt good enough skill wise on a cup contender and thats what the goal here is. He should have been dealt at the deadline while his stock was at a premium.

I wouldn't go that far, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was part of a package for an upgrade somewhere in the lineup.

I wouldnt go that far either lol. This is hockey. Not all that important. And the Edmonton Oilers aren't worth betting and losing a piece of chewed gum.

Over/Under Peckham taking 2.5 stupid penalties?

Over/Under Dubnyk letting in 1.5 soft goals?

Over/Under lines switched 3.5 times in the game?

Oilers should win tonight. So they will lose. 3-1 CBJ.

This board will explode.

1) Over, when he's out for long stretches he suffers from game-rust on top of being a bottom-pairing player.

2) under, I really don't expect this to be a high-scoring game

3) under, maybe twice it'll happen but with harti in the lineup it'll give renney some rope to practically go full-on-blender.

1. Under. I'm guessing 2
2. Over. 2 again
3. Over. I'll say 4 times

He was making a point that he'd rather have a small player with the heart of a lion then a big player with the heart of a mouse. That's obviously why he mentioned Penner. Gagner isn't the worst 2nd line center in my opinion, but it's all subjective.

I'm assuming on that third penalty you mean he is cutting 0.5 of someone's finger off with his skate (placing his skate on his fist and funching someone's hand)...but that is still 3 penalties...

so you mean over/under on 3 stupid penalites.

Exactly. I'd rather we have Crosby as our other center, but that's not the point. We've got 2 guys that play bigger than they are. Assuming Nuge bulks up a bit over the next few years, we should be just fine imo

I'm sure the Nuge will, he's going to be amazing. I'd still like to grab one of the 2 centers in the draft though, hard to pass up having an elite number1 one and number2, Gags just doesn't quite cut it, at least not yet.

Ya assuming one's available where we pick, I think you have to. Having Gags means we can wait for Grigorenko/Galchenyuk to properly develop though

After getting called out publicly I'm guessing they win this game. Which is kinda too bad because a regulation loss might actually give them a shot at landing Nail.

It's his 5th season, although still young, do we have to wait another 5 years? He should of been shipped out at the deadline

well yes. While i see what the poster was getting at, a player with a heart of a lion, i was trying to make a point that Dustin Penner is irrelevant and if we are comparing players who we would RATHER have we should be aiming high. Personally i have had enough of this organization settling on mediocre players. Why can't we be in play for a Rick Nash? Why settle for Sam Gagner?

The Blue Jackets are displaying a lot of guts and a lot of pride right now. They're definitely going to walk all over the listless Oilers. Ryan Whitney admitted yesterday (in not so subtle fashion) that a lot of Oilers have checked out of the games and are looking forward to the off-season.

1. Nash is a winger, not a center
2. Nash has the worst contract in the NHL
3. Nash sucks in his own zone

need more reasons why we shouldn't go after Nash?

Oilers win 10-0 and go on to win all their remaining games, finishing out of the lottery and picking a complete bust with their first rounder.

Stu MacGregor is fired over this incident, Renney is promoted to GM, Tambellini is promoted to President of Hockey Ops, and Kevin Lowe is given the title of Supreme Commander.
