What I am getting from all this is that he probably does not want to play here but the Bills are making it impossible for him to say no because they are offering him an ungodly sum of money.
Agreed. What are we thinking at this point? 5 years 87 mil, 45 guaranteed? Too much?

My take on this is that Mario and the gal pal are going to go back to their hotel room, have a long talk about what he's looking for, what she wants, and how Buffalo suits those things. My guess is something leaks later tonight (either way), once Mario makes his decision and speaks to his agent. We'll then find out for sure in the morning.
Agreed. I feel like he's looking for a reason to say no, but just can't yet. But this is probably the pivotal night. This thing will end one way or another tomorrow morning.
so basically I'd be like: "Look Mario, we've sucked for so long that we're due for a really really good season, plus here's a few boatloads of cash. Now what jersey size do you take?"

Woah, thought you were going somewhere completely else with this when I first started reading. Glad you kept it clean.
What I don't understand is why he would refuse to sign a contract that would make him the highest paid DE in league history ?
What if some unfortunate accident happened after he left buffalo, and before he signs a contract with some other team?? what if he gets in an accident or something, tears his knee or something and can never play again....he loses out on millions of guaranteed money....I don't get it....I think his agent is a fool for not getting him to sign this deal.

Honestly, he has to be waiting to see if someone is going to match the ludicrous sum of money we must be offering him. Which makes me wary. If the guy REALLY doesn't want to play here, he could just turn into another Haynesworth, sign for his fat load of guaranteed money and then just quit. I mean, it's unlikely but not impossible

You'd commit the next 5-10 years of your life to something you're not entirely sure of because you're scared some freak accident might happen in the next 3 days?

Really?
sure would...for probably 30 something million in guaranteed money, you bet I would.....He's only in his 20s....5 to 10 years is nothing...he will still be young...can afford multiple homes where ever in the country he wants....can fly to see his family, or fly them to him.....Yea I think I would sign....The 30 mill would undoubtedly do it for me.
He's waiting it out. If a team like the titans don't get Peyton, then they might match the bills offer. Sucks, but that's what happens when you haven't made the playoffs in the last decade+
It's not about the money. He was the No. 1 overall draft pick before the rookie wage cap, and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he's already made over $56 million in his career.
He's going to get a huge deal, no matter where he goes. He might not be the highest-paid defensive player ever on another team, but what's $10 million when you'll be probably be making $70 million anyway?
