Adam Larsson to Detroit

As we all know, Detroit will need a Lidstrom replacement. Nothing will suffice, but I like what I see in Larsson. All be almost untouchable, I'd like to see what Devil's fans would take for him. Here is my first proposal:

Adam Larsson

Valtteri Filppula - Solid second line center
Brendan Smith - Potential #2 Defensemen
Teemu Pulkkinen - 50 point prospect in the Finnish League
Detroit's 1st Round Pick 2013

Thoughts from both sides?

New Jersey won't be trading Larsson. He's a huge part of the team. This will go no-where.

As much as I'd love to have Larsson on the Wings there's no workable trade to be made here either team would agree to.

Non-starter. New Jersey hasn't had a #1 guy since Niedermayer left. Larsson will be that guy.

I think Larsson has a little more to prove before the Wings would ever make a trade like that.

If he was a little more proven, he would never be in the realm of possibility of being traded (not that he'd be traded even at this point).

though Larsson is near untouchable on the devils, I really think detroit would have to start with Nyquist

Brendan Smith is a non-starter from Detroit's POV.

I wouldn't do it as a Wings fan.

No point in getting rid of a top 6 wing/center on a team where everyone clamors for another top 6 winger, and getting rid of our best D prospect, and a great Euro prospect, and a 1st rounder.

That's a good package for a great NHL player, but not for a great prospect.

Larsson is super-skilled and not being traded, but man that guy looks like he is coming off of a huge bender in every pic I see of him.

Except Adam Larsson isn't a prospect, he's getting +20 minutes a game on one of the top teams in the East. Not to mention he's scored more points in a Devils sweater than any other defenseman this season. And he's still getting better.

Not to mention he's on on ELC with a cap hit < $1M for two additional years so his production in terms of contract is enormous. Combined with New Jersey's pedestrian defensive core his asking price would be enormous.

I'm not even sure where to begin in terms of value, but either Kronwall or Smith would surely have to be coming the other way in addition to other assets.

What exactly is Larsson's upside and how quickly do people think he could get there?

Is 50 points next season possible?

I don't think Detroit has the pieces to convince New Jersey to move Larsson.

He projects to be a minute eating, all situations top pairing defenseman. 60-70 point ceiling. Personally, he reminds me a lot of Brian Leetch, but other people have compared him to Lidstrom and Niedermayer. New Jersey's going to take it slow, there's no need to rush him. He needs to work on his conditioning over the summer, he's been struggling with fatigue in the 2nd half of the year. Which is completely normal for his first pro season and the minutes he's getting. Don't forget, he isn't even 20 years old yet.

50 points next season is a pretty big reach. Zidlicky has another year on his deal so he'll be taking away from Larsson's PP ice time. 35-40 points seems like a good target for Larsson next season provided he stays healthy and packs on a little muscle over the summer. I wouldn't expect a Karlsson-like season from him anytime soon.

O christ no! I think there are very few realistic packages that would make new jersey move Larsson (i.e no Crosby offers)

Zetterberg for Larsson seems like the only 'fair' valued swap, but both sides would never agree to it.

I'd go after Hedman instead, his asking price wouldn't be nearly as high.

Larsson could have gone 1st overall easily.

Hedman plays like he should have been taken in the later rounds, not 2nd overall.

What is it with teams asking for Larsson lately? No, he's not available. No, not even if you overpay. And no, we don't want your goalie prospects for him!

FYI Pulkkinen didn't score nowhere near 50 points this season.
