How's the Bowman line going to prevent that from happening?
It won't. There has to be a stat geek somewhere that has tracked how each concussion has happened this year (or in recent years), right? I'd be curious to see the percentages of (1) location on the ice; (2) type of check/infraction; (3) head up/down; (4) what impacted head (ie. ice, boards, glass, stick, fist, elbow pad, shoulder pad, knee); etc.

I haven't seen anyone keeping track of it publicly, but I'm sure people in the know have been (NHL, NHLPA, individual teams, agents, and independent consultants).
It'd have to be a group effort, much like tracking scoring chances.
Don't know if it's been posted here, but last I read, 15% of the players in the league have been concussed this season.
I recall a lot of people wanting the Sabres to draft him/trade up to draft him in the '04 draft. He went a pick ahead of Stafford. I thought that guy had a lot of potential.
It's ridiculous how good the Pens are. Defensively, offensively, physical play...they have it all.
Yup... making the Flyers look like the Sabres... took them ~17 minutes to get their first shot on goal in the 2nd.

Looks like he just kind of faded away.
From NHL.com....

Biggest disappointment: A.J. Thelen (2004) -- The Wild took Thelen, a Minnesota-born defenseman playing at Michigan State, with the 12th pick in 2004. It had the potential for a great story -- local kid makes good -- but never turned out that way. Thelen was dismissed from Michigan State during the middle of the 2004-05 season, went to the Western Hockey League and didn't impress the Wild enough to earn a contract offer. He's played the last three seasons in the ECHL, though he did get nine games with AHL Rochester in 2009-10. He had 29 points in 65 games for Kalamazoo of the ECHL this past season.
Honorable mention: None. Every first- and second-round pick from 2000 to 2003 has made the NHL, as have the first-rounders in 2005, '06 and '07 and '09.

Last I saw he was in Kalamazoo in the ECHL. I know he suffered multiple concussions. Don't think he is the property of an NHL team.
