Henrik and Daniel reach out to Norwegian junior player in Sweden
I stumbled upon this and thought I'd post it here, yet another example of what amazing people the Sedin twins are.
16 year old Brynäs junior player Kristian Nervik Nilsen has been diagnosed with a genetic heart condition, which forced him to give up hockey.
"When Henrik and Daniel read about Kristians tragic situation they acted. They sent a letter and a signed stick which had been used in a NHL game to Brynäs' office.
-I was stunned. It said I was invited to Vancouver, where I'd get a chance to meet them and see an NHL game."
The article also mentions their Foundation Award nomination.
Classiest players in the league, it's absolutely ridiculous the lack of respect these two get.
No kidding. Outside of the diving (which was unusual, borne out of frustration, perhaps) in last year's playoffs, they have done nothing to deserve the lack of respect and unexplained hatred. Two of the classiest players in the league, indeed. Hope them and salo are the first to touch the cup when they hopefully win it this year.
Obviously a story to cover up their disappearing act. No, but seriously it's always nice to hear about these stories. Especially when its coming from your own team.
These 2 guys personify what it means to be Canucks. I love how giving they are not only towards their old home (Sweden) & their present home (Van). The amount of disrespect & hate they get is totally unjust & proves just how little knowledge the haters have when they talk about the Sedins & not having character.
They maybe All Star Hockey player but they truly are All Star human beings.
Doesn't even surprise me one bit. Great hockey players, even better people.
Seeing all the hate and lack of respect they get from around the league(from players and fans) actually boils my blood. Two of the nicest guys out there. I'll never understand it and don't really care to. They are just fantastic human beings and it's a joke how people treat them.
Henrik and Daniel are wonderful people and great Hockey players (outside of a few unfortunate diving incidents).
Fans of other teams for the most part and I would think NHL players as well ( outside of the bruins) respect the Sedin's for who they are and what they bring to the game.
Unfortunately there is always an element that likes to crap on what they do not have. (talent, class, NHL contract)
Sadly every teams fanbase contains a group of these types.
Many fans of the game (Canadians mostly and Swedes of course) know about the good works the Canuck's (including the twins) do for the childrens hospital in Vancouver. My Oilers do similar things at the stollery childrens hospital in Edmonton. (wife works there as a RN, but shes not allowed to get me autographs etc. since its about the kids )
And this is only the stuff that gets public. Initially they planned to make the $1.5M donation anonymously but were talked into making it public in hopes that others would follow.

We are honoured.
Exactly. Considering that they tried to donate that money anonymously, just think about what amazing things they do that no one hears about. They are truly heroes. And this is opposed to most nhl players who donate like $1000 to "charity" because they get a tax write-off, and they make sure their name is publicized everywhere in very large print. The Sedins are the complete opposite of this. They are not just 2 legendary hockey players, but 2 of the greatest human beings in sports, ever.
