Just looking at stats, this clearly isn't the case.

Perhaps English isn't unleashed first language, and they meant to say "awesome" instead of "awful"

I noticed they edited the post to say that he is a great playmaker. Great playmaker = good passer

I'm guessing that's a translation issue.

I hate to even go here at this point but I wonder what an "acceptable" offer will be by Rads standards in the offseason.

he was a scorer just in his first year in Ufa. Then three last year he was more passing. But i cannot say that doesnt shoot - Radu always was most shooting player. But defending team always was playing carefully against him, so he just began to use it for passing to partners

I don't even want to think about what he wants in terms of a new contract. Poile was already a busy man before this.

Unless we can sign him early, I don't know that the Preds are even going to have a hand in determining that, and given his history, I have to believe that he's going to want to leave his options open and won't sign until he is an RFA. I hold out some hope that Poile is negotiating a new contract in return for burning the ELC, but it wouldn't surprise me to learn if Rads said, "take me now with no guarantees or never get me" and Poile looked down at his shoes and said, "OK."

By not having a hand in determining it, I mean Rads is going to get a LOT of offer sheets. All Nashville has to do is be prepared to match the biggest one.

The bigger question is, how big an offer will it take to keep him from heading back to the KHL?

Would someone mind refreshing my memory -- RFA means other teams can make offers, the Preds have a chance to match or receive draft picks as compensation....True?

Can the offers be any number of years? And aren't there some pretty big prices to pay to "steal" an RFA? Like multiple first round picks depending on the $$ amount of the offer?

Or am I thinking of something else.

It will be interesting to see if he can be productive this year. A lot of issues could limit his effectiveness such as getting used to better competition,NA rinks, new linemates, new system, living in a diff country etc.

Honestly I just hope he's settled in and ready to go by the playoffs. There is no doubt he is a big time talent but I wouldn't be surprised if he's a huge bust this year.

Basically correct. The Preds have to make a Qualifying Offer. I can't look up the terms right now, but basically it has to be a small percentage above his current contract.

If Rads rejects that offer, and he will, then other teams can submit offer sheets. If he signs one of them, Nashville may match the offer. If they do, he remains ours. If not, he's gone but we get draft picks in return. How many depends on the size of the contract.

I'm not sure if there are limitations on the number of years. However, opposing GM's can play an interesting game of chicken. They can jack up their offer, making Nashville really hamstring themselves with a huge contract. Of course if Nashville calls their bluff and refuses to match it, not only do they have to pay the big number they tried to stick Nashville with, but they have to give up draft picks too, potentially damaging their organization.

I had forgotten that one. Do y'all remember the shopping spree @ Toys R Us, where he was playing with the toys as much as helping the kids pick things out?

Here's a question I haven't seen asked. If you're Poile do you give Radulov a NTC or NMC?

One key component to the offer sheet is that a team must use their own draft picks if they lure a player via that route. For example, the Preds cannot tender an offer sheet to a player that would require a second round pick as part of the compensation since we've traded away our 2013 2nd round pick.

Can't. Must be a Group 3 UFA to get a NMC/NTC per 11.8 of the CBA.

That settles that

I was trying to find information on the different "Groups" of Free Agency, but I'm cooking lunch so I got side tracked. Thanks for the answer

Why would you even bother looking up something CBA related when we have 101...

I'll stand corrected on the idea that he'll get a lot of offer sheets. Someone in another forum pointed out how few actually get put forth, mainly due to the large amount of compensation required. So in that case, he'll likely either accept our offer, or if it's not good enough, head back to the KHL.

Just to add to what 101st said..

He can get a contract with a NTC worked in, but the earliest it could kick in would be July 1st 2014.
