I am viewing this as he is a hired gun for the rest of the year. Then all bets are off for next year. Hopefully we have a long playoff run to convince Webs, Sutes, and Rads to stay. He will improve our team as long as he isn't a diva.
some highlights, and I am sure the bloggers who think they are better than everyone will have more accurate quotes, but here goes...
at the outset, poile spoke. talked about rads accomplishments, best player not in nhl, lauded his play and said the goal was to resign him.
Rads then spoke-gave some coachspeak about happy to be here, winning, etc.
-asked why he came back-khl contract over, missed nhl, wanted to play with best players in world, good opportunity
-asked why he left-had a good contract and he liked it there. said time changes.
-asked if he felt guilty-yes. not a normal situation. I changed. I'm here now.
asked about medvedev saying rads will be back in khl-rads said he did not promise anythin. good opportunity to move this summer-haven't discussed future yet.
asked if nhl recognize khl deal-does not have a contract. this was open ended. goal is to sign him longer
asked how often they talked-said rads followed team religiously. no disconnect. asked about details, talked about stats, etc.
style of play?-said he isn't scared. ice bigger, not as much hitting.
asked if will play tomorrow-"I want to play" said he hasn't skated much dealing with no ice and dealing with paperwork. "ready to go" said everything else is excuses-tired. out that in back and go on ice see how I feel.
asked if nervous-said yeah. real nervous when GM met him at airport. and laughed.
asked if nashville got put out if he would play in WC.-dn't want to talk about it. but never say no to national team. too early.
asked about reception-laudes 6 and 20 and 35. talked about 10 and 11 having good years. said he talked to weber at tourneys and on the phone and weber kept pushing him to come back.
