WHat is the difference where they pick? The Leafs has shown year in and year out they cannot develop a player.

Jeez everyone acts like Burke is dumb enough to trade it for a mid-level vet.

"Oh but he is because he's already wasted 2 1st round picks!"

Not like he got a 21 year old 36 goal scorer or anything.

Doesn't make sense to me.

I actually read (excluding Yakupov of course) that Radek Faksa is the most NHL ready forward out of the bunch.

How would people feel if Burke traded down from 3rd to 5th and picked Faska? (hypotheticially speaking of course) Or would most people on here lose their **** if we didn't draft Galchenyuk instead?

He's also projected to be a No #1 C in case anyone was wondering.

Judging by some scouting reports that I've read, alot of them wouldn't be surprised if Faska ends being the most complete centre prospect in the draft.

I definitely think that Burke will get 'inclined' by our media and fans,if the trades our 1st round pick.

With this teams history, including Burke's, there's a reason why there's such paranoia among us. It's justified.

No there isn't. It's not like he frivolously threw the picks away.

I'm sure the vast majority of fans would be happy if Burke traded the pick for a recognizable name.

We're currently drafting 7th. Could end up anywhere between 3rd and 10th pretty easily.

I don't care what kind of state he was in when he threw them away. If he moves out this pick it won't be a comfort to say "well he didn't completely screw up."

That pick better not be going anywhere.

So what would put Burke's job in jeopardy 5 straight missed playoff years?

Some fans believed Wilson was safe in a "playoffs or bust" year for Toronto and next season the heat to make the playoffs will be even greater and the next fall guy for the poor results will be Burke himself. IMO

I doubt it gets dealt. Obviously he will listen to offers and every pick in the draft has the possibility to get dealt but at the end of the day it seems unlikely.

I love how people insinuate the worst possible case.

News report - "Leafs may move 1st rounder"

Fans - "Oh great we're giving it away for 33 year old"

We'll actullay have to move the pick to trade up(if they want) which there's a better chance of that happening more than any other year Burke's been here imo.

i think it would depend on who is on the board and where we are picking. as bad as we are playing right now id be surprised if we ended up picking 3rd. i think we can realistically end up picking 5-7, maybe 4th if some of the other teams get a little hot.

if this is the case im pretty sure we could draft faska at 5-7 if the draft goes how people think it might.

it seems like there are a lot of really good defenseman in this draft and a lot of the teams in and around where we are would benefit from a defenseman. i admit i dont know too much about faska but im not sure i see burke going off the board and taking him over grigorenko or galchenyuk if either are available. i think if both are gone then he would trade down to get faska though seeing as a center is our most pressing need.

It's most likely staying put. Burke had the option of landing Dustin Brown in exchange for both Schenn and Frattin, but declined because he said that he's spent 3 yrs building up the system and if he traded both of them, he'd be looking for the same type of players afterwards.

I know most fans in here don't agree, but Burke DOES has a long-term plan in place.

Yes.

The dealbreaker was that Burke would only part with Schenn straight up but Lombardi wanted Frattin included as well who is considered a Dustin Brown-lite at the moment.

When is Burke going to have his annual "Foot in mouth" presser? This time to say he's going after Yakupov or is he still going to get Tavares?

The Kessel trade turned into a headache, there's no way the fans will be okay with Burke dealing this pick unless it's to move up.
