Isles Cap Floor Circumvention

If you have twitter, follow us at http://twitter.com/#!/IslesCapCircumv and see how the Isles payroll on ice is usually 25m under the cap floor. I'm hoping this will gain traction and hopefully force some changes both in the NHL and in Islanders management.

I hope so. I called NHL live about this a week or two ago. I was on hold but never got on the phone

They are NOT circumventing the cap! It's ALL 100% in line with the current CBA. Therefore, your argument fails out of the gate.

The CBA permits what the Isles are doing, individually and collectively. Sadly, the Isles are the ONLY team electing to do so. Wang will argue it's because of the arena, losses, and rebuild, but 'we have tried to spend each year' - BS. It's always one try, they pass, then they don't do much else beyond July 1.

Do players not want to play on LI because of the arena? Or is it really a culture of systemic losing, mismanagement, and an owner that maintains a payroll similar to a slum landlord?

Publicly the players/agents will say the arena. Privately, it's the team culture, owner, mgmt, and the payroll indicates a desire NOT to win.

Yes they are not cheating the cap floor. However the rule needs to be changed. You know as well as i do that they are "Cheating"
bending the rules etc.

Which, in my mind, is why once Wang loses control of the lease in Nassau he will sell the team.

Technically you are right. However they are violating the spirit of the CBA. If the league stepped in and squashed the original Devils contract with Kovalchuk, on the basis of the contract violating th spirit of the CBA, then they should step in here too. It really is that simple, and someone should fling that fact in Bettman's face on his call in show.
