Silfverberg voted MVP of SEL 2011/12

With 54 points in 49 games, having lots of ice time, Silfverberg was voted MVP by the players in the league.

He will be given a golden helmet, a price who has been awarded since 1986.

The future in Ottawa is bright!

So, Forsberg or Alfredsson?

That's ridonk.

I remember how he looked so ordinary in his first rookie camp in Ottawa.

That's some insane scouting....

Forsberg's head, Alfredsson's body, Ron Jeremy's loins.

and he will change his name to Guldhuvud.

No, he won the equivalent of the Norris trophy but none of the two MVP titles (Magnus Johansson the "Lindsay" and Viktor Fasth the "Hart").

Dude gotta be the calder favorite next year.

Big, strong, fast, and skilled and best of all has either a 1st or a 2nd or a 3rd line WING SPOT practically waiting for him.

It is like all you can eat buffet!

Well this sounds familiar....

Congratz to Silfverberg! but lets not have another Rundblad-like over hyping until we see the guy play in NA.

I hope all this hype he's receiving will translate in the NHL. I remember a bunch of posters drooling over Rundblad and when he started to struggle a bit the hype eventually died down and realized he wasn't as spectacular as some made him out to be.

Silfverberg is probably a 2nd/3rd line player

Rundblad can still be a top line defensemen.

Silverberg is physically ready.

Rundblad wasn't as a 20 year old rookie defenceman, but may still turn out to be a top-2 guy in the league.

yup i agree. Rundblad has things you can't teach his defensive game will shore up with experience.

Silfverberg is more safe and at worst is a role player who plays the pk i dont think he will be a top line player

So who was the youngest player to ever win this award? Forsberg?

Could be, its not a rookie award for sure. Forsberg took the same route as Silfverberg, stayed at home to develop so he felt he could make an impact once he took the step to the NHL. Its not a bad idea since SEL offers a lot more practice time to hone your skills and build up physically to the expense of not so playing as many games.

However, I wouldn't draw any comparisons to Forsberg other than that above. There will only be one Forsberg...

I wonder if the Murrays are glad Silfver went back to Sweden for another season.

This is awesome!!!!

Zibanejad - Game winning WJC goal
Silfverberg - SEL MVP
Lehner - Calder Cup MVP
Cowen - Memorial Cup
Hoffman - Memorial Cup appearance. MVP of Quebec Junior League
Butler and Da Costa Hobey Baker finalists
Stone - Leads Canada in goals at WJC, sure to win awards in WHL this year

We have a lot of great dominating prospects and there are more! Most drafted after the 2st round!!!
