I think Rieder has a legitimate shot to become a good player for us. He was a 4th rounder but was getting a lot of hype last year too and plays a hard game also for his size.
Hall - Nugent-Hopkins - Eberle
Paajarvi - Grigs/Galch - Rieder

Wouldn't mind that top 6 in a few years.
That top-six would get eaten alive. Unless MPS becomes an unstoppable power forward like he does on NHL 12 (think I've mentioned that before).
Great to see, but I won't get too excited until we see him play in the AHL.
Agozzino on the Ice Dogs has scored 37,43 and 40 goals in the 3 years he's played since not being drafted at all. (he would have easily had 50 this year if he weren't on such a stacked team). But I can't see him ever playing more than a couple call up games in the NHL.... if THAT even happens.
Does anyone else get a vibe from this kid a-la pre-NHL Eberle? The scouting report (smart player, gets his points being in the right place at the right time, rounded skillset, not overly flashy, good [not great] skater, slightly undersized) seems to match pretty well.
I seem to remember after the draft I read somewhere that Stu had Rieder in his top 30.

Actually higher than that. Stauffer outright asked MacGregor and he said top 30.
The quote was about Gernat who was taken in the 5th round, so I'd have to assume Rieder was higher in the rankings.

This is what I've thought for awhile now. I'm not saying he'll get to Eberle's level or close although can you imagine...

Exactly what I had in mind. Drafting Grigo/Gally will give the Oilers this flexibility.
He also had a hell of a supporting cast, as did Martindale. The next closest scorer to Rieder is 12 points behind him with 2 years more experience. Kid's got it going on
edit: Just to be clear about my previous comment, I don't see the upside in him that I see in Eberle - more so the playing style and overall skillset. Then again, I saw Eberle as a 2nd liner coming out of junior.
edit #2: Just realized I passed post 4000. How the hell have I posted 4000 times??
