and this game alone on how zucc played even strength i think he has earned a spot here on this team and torts wanted him to improve and he has to where he is not a liability defensively and improved his skating his edge his speed
The Rangers were defeated in every single aspect of this game by a superior hockey team.
The ONLY good thing about this otherwise unwinnable game was that the top line was still effective. More than can be said about anyone else on the team, including John Tortorella.

Really not too upset.....the Pens when healthy are arguably the best team in the league. I believe we can compete w/them when we're 100% healthy. Unfortunately we arent. Defensive breakdowns (which is going to happen against that team), one fluke goal and two softies allowed by Biron. Meanwhile, Fleury was real good.
Still thought we played ok considering the circumstances. Lets see what happens when we play them w/Hank, DZ and Cally.
Only thing that I'm annoyed about is the Stepan/AA/Dubinsky line. Its like Dubinsky has spread his awfulness germs to Stepan and AA.

McDonagh at least made an attempt on 5th goal. Bickel was literally standing still looking at the ceiling.

Zucc should have gotten more icetime, preferably on a line without Mitchell and someone who could score.

THANK YOU. Some people on a stream chat were telling me how stupid I am because I said we couldn't win this. And that the only thing going for us was the 1st line. They still argue that Dubinsky is solid and made great decisions...
but anyway the D was buns tonight. everything but Michelin line was buns.
Hopefully AA's injury doesn't keep him out for too long. If it's a separated shoulder we can kiss him goodbye for potentially the rest of the season.
Bickel is useless. Eminger is useless.
I REALLY hope that Staal didn't hit his head as he fell at the end of the game.
Can't wait for Kreider to come just so we have another threat offensively. Mitchell and Fedetenko just don't cut it.

Erixon needs to be called up ASAP. Our defense needs fresh legs.
Can't wait for Cally, MDZ, and Hank to come back. Hopefully AA isn't seriously hurt. Additionally, Zuke better stay up, and Erixon and Kreider should be called up as soon as possible (I know we have to wait potentially till April for Kreider, but he should be up immediately thereafter).
Aside from that, refs were brutal tonight, but we beat ourselves. Biron isn't good enough to stave off all of those chances. Our defense was just atrocious. We only had 2 effective lines on the ice tonight additionally, and one of them is purely a grinding role. Can't have all of that and expect to win, although we did come close.
Bad game all around. Pens simply have more talent and when you make mistakes defensively, you're gonna get killed especially against this team. Doesn't help when you're missing three key parts of your team either. Not a shocking result as I believe the Pens are the best team in the league. Just gotta bounce back Saturday.
