Grabovski line is for the most part successfully shutting down other teams top lines. The signing keeps looking better and better and he is playing for his money which is a lovely thing!!!

Possible, but further out your body covers more net. I think once Carlyle gets the team to stop the high risk plays the goaltending will look alot better. Gustavsson played well when Carlyle showed confidence in him and gave him a run.

Ashton-Grabovski-Frattin looks like it could be a very solid 3rd line

Feels good having a team that is playing to keep the lead, not trying to score goals all the time..

By best player do you mean first star?
Because If you weren't then I think you missed the games against Washington and Philadelphia...

It was more about Dion going after Stamkos and that back and fourth match up. Shows Dion knows to get under which players skin.

I know this is not a popular sentiment but I agree with Allaire. Leaf fans need to be patient with our Goalies. There might not be an UFA upgrade available on Gus.

The colour guy for TB. is nicknamed the Chief, and its not Armstrong

I don't anyone knows for sure, what Allaire does. I think he knows these
goaltenders, has positives of XYZ, and defciencies of ABC, and tries to work on those. In terms of play, keep it to what got them success and
where they are today.

I agree. Let the system run its course. I say they go from 36th, to about 10-15.

Good game by Reimer but that goal he gave up was the type of goal that has sunk this team. Blame Komisarek all you want that puck went through Reimer a soft goal that NHL goalies don't give up consistently which has been the norm from Reimer this year and his troubles all year long compared to the difference from last year where rarely he was scored on with pucks going through him like that. Last years Reimer sucked that puck in his body doesn't squeak through him.

Like I said blame Komisarek all you want when a goalie gets beat with the puck going through him it's always on the goalie.

haven't seen anything out of him yet to say he can be a legit starter in this league. he's not 20.

no need to question my patience on a soon to be 28 year old who hasn't done anything yet. And no, he's not the next Tim Thomas

As much as I don't want us to go into next season with the same goaltending tandem, I really don't want to let Gus go. It's pretty clear he is going to be a goalie in the NHL, whether he's a #1 or #2 is to be seen. I think we should throw a 2 year contract at Gus, and roll with the same goalies. IMO it's not our goalies that are ****, it was the system in place. Our system could of made Pekka Rinne look like an AHL goalie. Now that we have Carlyle who can implement a defensive first system, I think we will see great leaps in Reimer and Gus's game.

OT: This ******* in my class thinks we can still make the playoffs, I keep telling him the chances are like 1%. But he won't shutup. Should I slap him or just cry for him?

Yes, we know we've seen Gustavsson in Pittsburgh and in overtime.

Hard to believe after 3 years, and at age 27 people are still saying give him time and dumping on a just turned 24 year old.

Maybe they don't know how old Gustavsson is?

Ever since Gus has stepped foot in Toronto, he's given fans a bit of a rollercoaster ride. He has the ability to look phenomenal and then look like crap all in the span of minutes in a single game. It'd be much easier if he could just suck mostly or be good mostly but he hovers right there in the middle. He shows enough brilliance and plays well in stretches at a time that make it easier to pause for a moment and rethink the previous notion that he completely sucks.

My take on Allaire's comments to Reimer, is simply that when you are struggling, often one can start over thinking, worrying about every little technical thing.
When a goalie plays their best they are in a sort of non-thinking state of mind.
Ideally you work on technical things in practice, and with repetition they become automatic, but in games you just play.

As for those blaming Allaire, and it has been a very popular theory of late, I will not surprisingly dissagree.

If our goalies were playing Allaire's method to a T and getting beat because of it, then I would agree.
However, Allaire teaches a method based on first and formost being positionally sound, ideally at the top of the crease square to the puck. Secondly to take away the areas where most shots go...the bottom and the middle of the net. Thirdly to make a solid block with no holes, nothing through, nothing under.
Both goalies have tended to be off angle or too deep, and both have also allowed a lot of goals through them. IMHO it is those goals that have been the game killers.
Therefore I feel that the majority of the problem lies not with the goalie coach, but with the two fairly inexperienced NHL goalies failing to execute properly.

I'm not sure why people find it hard to understand that a tandem with about 150 games between them, playing most of the year behind a run and gun team often in the top two in the league for turnovers, might make mistakes.
