#2/3 overall for Ekman-Larsson

Would PHX consider this trade?:

To PHX:
2012 EDM 1st round pick (#2 overall) = Mikhail Grigorenko
2012 EDM 2nd round pick (#32 overall)

To EDM:
Oliver Ekman-Larsson
2012 PHX 1st round pick

OR if the Oilers' pick is 3rd overall

To PHX
Oilers 1st round pick (#3 overall) = Dumba/Murray/Reinhart

To EDM
Oliver Ekman-Larsson

Just doesn't make sense.

OEL is just too good. He'll be an absolute stud.

Value might be there, but something like this just won't happen.

No from PHX OEL is probably as good as anyone at #2 or #3 so why would they also trade back a pick?

Values probably there but I doubt PHX does it, OEL's a stud

Whenever I watch PHX he looks better than Yandle...

the second one makes no sense at all....why would phx possibly want to do that.

the only way it works is if you give them a forward.

OEL has pretty much solidified himself as our top dman so there's very little chance if any that he would be dealt. He certainly wouldn't be dealt for unknown quantities, whether its the top pick in the draft or not. Personally there isn't a realistic trade that could be made to make me give up OEL at this point, he's just getting better and better.

He's been better than Yandle in almost every way this year. Add in the constant turnovers that Yandle has been committing and he's already making some enemies on the Yotes board.

no way PHX does this. value seems to be about right but OEL is their best defenseman and i see him as being pretty untouchable unless they get a great overpayment by someone

I was waiting for OEL proposals to take over once the Adam Larsson proposals died out.

That OEL + PHO 1st for #2 overall +#32 is particularly bad. 30 teams are looking for a great young defenseman on an ELC, and 30 teams are unwilling to trade their great young defenseman on an ELC for draft picks or scraps

Second one makes 0 sense, and the first one's pretty bad as well.

Both deals are a big NO from the Coyotes.

Face it, if Edmonton hopes to trade for one of the top yound dmen in the league it is going to cost one of Hall, Eberle or Nugent-Hopkins.

Grigorenko isn't in the same category?

Gigorenko has not played an nhl game yet. Some scout/scouts thinks he may drop. The others have proven they can perform in the nhl.

OEL is already a #2 dman. It would be a huge risk for Phoenix to trade him for an unproven player/draft pick.

Take Edmonton's second and Phoenix's first and I think it's a good deal value wise.

For Edmonton it's a great deal.

For Phoenix... man I think they could use a damn good forward but they might not Gormley might not be able to fill OEL's shoes for quite some time.

In reality the difference between #1 and #2 this year isn't that much different than it was when Hall was drafted.

You have two elite players who play a different position so I don't see the difference in Edmonton giving up 2nd overall.

What if the Oilers won the lottery. Would phoenix do that trade? #1 for OEL?

I have a hard time believing they'd do so. Why trade a potential No. 1 D-man for a guy who's been injured a couple of times who MIGHT be a franchise winger? And even then, OEL's position makes him more sought after in the long run.

That would still be a gamble for a sure fire stud dmen for a blue chip prospect, EDM would have to add

Ahh ic. That would probably be too much for the Oil, if they had to add.

No way in hell. OEL is already an #1D, and has perennial All-Star potential.

Why would they trade a guy who has huge offensive upside and can already play no1 minutes to draft a dman who has no guarantee of even being a top four? It's like going backwards.

Because on HF, Top 5 pick >>>>> Proven young player with high upside

Would take a massive overpayment...
RNH + 1st.
Would EDM do that? Nope.
Should they? Nope.
Why would PHX trade him for anything less than a nice upgrade?

We understad that you're an oilers fan and you want good players on your team, but a trade proposal needs to make sence for both teams, not just the one you're a fan of.

I would take OEL over any one player in this draft.

Easily.
